Julian was actually trying to test Raelynn's emotions.
He was incredibly worried that she was still stuck on him.
Raelynn simply looked up, her gaze clear and open. "Europe? Is he taking over the Croix family's European division?"
During the first two years of their marriage, Sebastian had been stationed in Canada.
Moving to Europe now was likely just another corporate arrangement.
"I'm not sure. He didn't give any details, but from the sound of it, he probably won't be returning anytime soon."
"He's always been a workaholic. On what grounds would I even go see him off?" Raelynn opened the box containing the elderflower cake and scooped up a delicate spoonful.
"True, you're already divorced." Julian felt a strange, complicated knot form in his chest.
Deep down, both he and Raelynn knew the truth.
Sebastian had definitely played a heavy hand in dealing with the Yves family mess, ensuring that Sylvia Dalton and Sierra Yves had zero chance of escaping their fate. When it came to protecting what was his, the man was ruthless and overly generous with his resources.
"But once he leaves, this twisted fate between the two of you will finally be over. A clean break."
Julian suddenly felt that this wasn't a bad outcome at all.
With the two of them separated by an ocean, the chances of them crossing paths again were slim to none. No seeing each other, no longing, no emotional triggers. They could simply fade from each other's worlds, letting the past wash away with time.
Eventually, they would become nothing more than a fleeting memory in each other's lives.
Incapable of causing any more ripples.
"I'll just explain it to Lily when the time comes." Raelynn took a bite of the cake. It was sweet but not overpowering. Her focus was entirely on her daughter, not herself.
"Will Lily even miss him?" Julian scoffed lightly.
Once he was gone, he was gone.
Lily was still so young; she would forget him in due time.
Raelynn remained noncommittal.
For adults, a silent, mutual separation was the norm. But it wasn't the same for children. Their world was pure, and even goodbyes needed to be communicated clearly and officially.
"Let's not talk about him."
Julian poured Raelynn a glass of water, his expression turning a bit heavy. "The Croix family seems to have hit a wall. They're under investigation, and the outcome isn't looking good."
The stock market was already fluctuating.
This year was different.
For her, it was incredibly special.
And the overwhelming sense of happiness eclipsed everything else.
Raelynn was delightfully swamped.
From shopping for holiday supplies to finalizing the dinner menu, she threw herself into the preparations, leaving all her lingering anxieties behind.
Naturally, during this entire period, she and Sebastian didn't see or contact each other.
They were both so busy it was as if the other had ceased to exist.
Then came New Year's Eve.
Lily was still sleeping in.
Raelynn sat with Rowan, going over the evening's menu.
Rowan looked radiant, her features softened with a profound gentleness. She gazed at Raelynn as if she couldn't get enough of her. "I hope you don't carry any guilt over all of this. Even though I despise Quentin Yves, Dr. Evelyn Hayes is a wonderful woman. She treated your mother better than her own flesh and blood, showering her with love since she was a little girl. The esteemed elder did absolutely nothing wrong."

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
