That was what she had thought.
That Derek Davenport had actually felt sorry for her.
Afterward, Derek had taken her to the hospital and arranged for her to receive the best care.
Inevitably, she had fallen deeply in love with him.
Unwilling to let him walk out of her life, she racked her brain for a way to stay by his side. Derek hadn't given her an opening, merely instructing his people to look out for her. But she was a smart woman, and she never forgot the look on his face when he had seen her injured.
Because of that, she deliberately orchestrated several incidents where she appeared pathetic and vulnerable in front of him.
She let herself be bullied and marginalized by others.
His heart softened, and he eventually brought her back to his presidential suite.
She used every trick in the book, doing everything in her power to seduce him.
But Derek had become a completely different person. He simply gripped her chin, studying her face with a predatory gaze, his voice entirely devoid of emotion. "If you want into my bed this badly, you need to understand that this is all you'll ever get. You'll only ever be a dirty little secret, hiding in the shadows."
It had broken her heart.
But her pride wouldn't let her accept it without asking why.
Derek hadn't bothered to sugarcoat it. "I already have a woman I love."
She hadn't wanted to accept that, yet she couldn't bring herself to let him go.
And so, she became his secret mistress.
She had always known that men could easily separate sex from love.
Derek was living proof of that fact.
She had schemed to get close to him, using her own face to wring an extra ounce of sympathy out of him. She assumed she would eventually become special to him—until she met Chloe Hudson.
Then, it hit her like a ton of bricks.
Derek hadn't treated her differently because she was beautiful.
It was because she looked like Chloe.
That resemblance was the only reason he had felt a flicker of pity for her, the only reason he had been willing to lend a helping hand in the first place.
Derek loved Chloe. He was madly in love with her. He would never divorce his wife for a mistress. Now, it seemed he was even ready to cut ties with Roxanne completely, all for Chloe's sake.
Roxanne's eyes were bloodshot as tears streamed down her face.
She refused to accept this.
She wasn't going to just hand over the man she loved on a silver platter.
What right did a plain, boring woman like Chloe have to monopolize all of Derek's affection?
-
When Chloe said she had to work, she meant it. She completely ignored Derek.
He just stayed by her side, quietly keeping her company.
He hadn't slept well the night before.
He could never sleep properly when Chloe wasn't next to him, which was why he never spent the night away from home unless he was traveling for business.
Yesterday, she hadn't said much of anything—only that she didn't want to go home. It had left him feeling entirely drained. Maybe it was just because she wasn't there, or maybe it was something else, something he couldn't quite put his finger on.

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
