Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 110

"What, that's it? Disappointed?" Randal teased relentlessly.

She shot him a murderous glare, her cheeks puffed out in outrage. "Randal, I am going to kill you."

He leaned down, whispering right against her lips with pure malice. "I screenshotted that text, by the way."

Her eyes bulged. "Why... why would you do that?"

Randal arched an eyebrow, looking every bit the ruthless playboy. "For the archives. So I can study it later."

Willa groaned. "You are a complete degenerate."

"Alright, I'll let you breathe." Randal strolled over to the dining table, popped open his laptop, and started firing off emails.

Willa waited until the rapid clicking of his keyboard slowed before speaking up.

"Randal, about my father's case... do we have anything? Why the hell was Silas Zeller having me followed?"

Randal's eyes hardened, his fingers hovering over the keys.

"Silas Zeller's wife is the registered owner of Brightway Building Materials."

Brightway Building Materials...

The name sent a shockwave through Willa's system. She had memorized every page of the case files. They were the primary supplier for The Empyrean Towers project.

"They skimmed off the top? Cut corners on the materials?"

Randal nodded.

"But Jonathan Dawson, the only man who can blow this wide open, is still MIA. We have zero physical evidence, which means we can't force a retrial."

He paused, his voice dropping into a deadly serious register. "Willa, leave this alone. I'm handling it."

Willa opened her mouth to argue, but he abruptly slammed the laptop shut and stood up.

"Anyway, how's the pilot for the heritage series looking?"

The violent pivot gave her whiplash. She blinked, stumbling over her words. "Uh? I'm... still tweaking the edits..."

"Let me see." Randal patted the empty cushion next to him. "Get over here."

Willa sighed, dragging her laptop over and sitting beside him.

"Done working?"

"Done for tonight. I'll fix it tomorrow." She melted into his side, tilting her head to look at him. "Are you exhausted?"

Randal stared down at her, the lethal boardroom predator completely replaced by the man who was violently obsessed with her.

"I'm surviving."

Willa reached up, tracing the faint stress line between his eyebrows. "Liar."

Randal caught her wrist, dragging her hand down to press a kiss against her palm.

She leaned up and quickly kissed his mouth. "Bedtime?"

Randal raised a dark eyebrow. "This early?"

Willa shot a look at the wall clock. It was pushing ten.

"It's late. And didn't I promise you dessert?"
