He suddenly chuckled, bending down to scoop her up into his arms.
Willa let out a gasp, instinctively throwing her arms around his neck.
"Randal!"
He carried her toward the bedroom while she buried her face in his chest, her cheeks burning.
Once in the bedroom, he gently laid her on the bed, bracing himself above her as he looked down.
Willa gazed into his deep eyes, her heart racing uncontrollably.
"Randal..."
He lowered his head and kissed her, tracing the shape of her lips little by little, as if treating a precious treasure he had just found again.
Her hands crept up his neck, returning his affection.
When the long kiss finally ended, both were slightly breathless, their breaths mingling in a hot, intimate exchange.
Resting his forehead against hers, his voice was husky. "Willa."
"Mhm..."
"Let's get some rest."
"You're not going to?" Willa paused, a flash of surprise in her eyes.
She could clearly feel the heavy surge of desire radiating from his body.
Randal took a deep breath, rolled over, and lay down beside her, pulling her into his arms.
"I'm not that much of a savage. I'll wait until you're not so sore."
After a few minutes of quiet, she thought he had fallen asleep, only to hear his voice from above her head.
"By the way, I'm having someone swap out the bathtub in a few days."
Willa froze, looking up in confusion. "Swap the bathtub? Why?"
Randal looked down at her, a meaningful, wicked smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
"I'm putting in a bigger one. Next time, we'll break in the new tub."
Willa was sluggish for a second before the suggestive meaning of his words hit her, and her face instantly flushed red.
"Randal!"
He chuckled softly, holding her even tighter.
"Go to sleep. I'll stop teasing you."
When she woke up the next morning, the space beside her was empty.
Willa reached out to touch the spot. It was cold.
He must have left a long time ago.
Sitting up and rubbing her eyes, the first thing she saw was a sticky note resting on the nightstand.
[Going on a business trip for a few days. Take care of yourself. There's food in the fridge. Lock the doors at night. Call me if you need anything.]
Willa stared at the note for a long time, unable to hold back a smile.
