But she didn't say it out loud. She just buried her face in his chest, gently wrapping her arms around his waist to feel his warmth.
"Were you a good girl these past few days?" Randal's voice drifted from above, carrying a cautious, probing tone.
Willa nodded.
"Did you eat?"
She nodded again.
Randal looked down at her, the corners of his lips curving slightly. "What did you eat?"
Willa thought for a second and answered honestly, "Instant ramen."
Randal furrowed his brows. "That's it? If you didn't want delivery, you could have bought some groceries to cook."
She lowered her eyes, afraid to meet his gaze. "Yeah, I'm by myself, didn't feel like cooking."
She was leaving soon anyway. Buying groceries would be a waste.
Randal let out a helpless laugh, his smile brimming with pure adoration. "Wait here. I'll have someone drop off your favorites."
He pulled out his phone and made a call.
After hanging up, he couldn't help but stare at her. His gaze was so deep it felt as though he wanted to lock her away for a lifetime, leaving her slightly panicked.
She looked away and turned toward the living room. "Have you eaten?"
"No."
"Then I'll make you ramen too."
Randal followed behind her, a hint of amusement in his voice. "You're just going to feed me that?"
Willa walked into the kitchen. "It's all we have in the house."
She could feel his eyes glued to her back, but she didn't dare turn around, terrified that if she did, he would see right through her.
Once the ramen was cooked, she poured it into a bowl and carried it to the dining table.
Randal sat down, picked up his fork, and took a bite. His eyes crinkled with a smile. "Tastes better than normal ramen."
Willa glared at him. "It is normal ramen."
Randal set down his fork and reached out to hold her hand, his thumb gently caressing the back of her hand.
