Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 117

True to his word, Randal didn't leave the apartment for the next few days. Aside from handling work on his phone or laptop, he guarded Willa closely, barely leaving her side.

Willa finally couldn't help but ask, "What are you doing? Don't you have anything else to do?"

He looked at her with pure candor. "I'm afraid you'll run away."

Willa sneered internally. Let him stare all he wanted. Once the engagement day arrived, he'd have to leave anyway.

As if guessing her thoughts, Randal reached out and gently pinched her cheek, his tone growing obsessive. "Willa, don't even think about going anywhere. If you dare run away, I'll drag you back from the ends of the earth."

Willa's expression flickered, and she looked down at her phone.

He hugged her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder, and kissed her ear.

"I'm a living, breathing man sitting right here. Am I not better to look at than your phone? Stop looking at it. Look at me."

Before she could react, he pulled her into his lap and lowered his head to kiss her.

He kissed her until her head spun. By the time she caught her breath, he had already confiscated her phone.

"I'll hold onto this for you. If you need it, just ask."

Randal spoke with absolute self-righteousness, and she couldn't be bothered to put up a pointless fight.

It was only for a few more days anyway. Let him have his way.

But she couldn't help wondering: was Randal isolating her so deliberately because he couldn't bear to let her go, or because he was terrified she'd see something she shouldn't and make a scene?

Even more miraculously, over these past few days, Randal hadn't tried to sleep with her. It was as if he was terrified she'd see the bruises on his body, knowing it would instantly shatter his fragile lies.

After five days of this routine, Willa couldn't take being cooped up anymore.

Halfway through breakfast, she set down her fork. "Randal, I need to go out today."

Randal's brows twitched slightly. "Where to?"

"An interview," she said. "I'm still missing some footage. I want to shoot a few more scenes."

He fell silent for a few seconds. "I'll go with you."

Willa paused, looking up at him.

His expression was perfectly neutral. She couldn't read a thing.

"Aren't you busy with work?"
