The amusement vanished from Corbin's face, leaving only a frigid glare. "Randal, are you threatening me?"
"What if I am?" Randal sneered, grabbing Corbin by the collar. "You'd better watch your back."
Corbin casually swatted his hand away, straightened his posture, and took his time smoothing out his collar. He shot Randal a dismissive look.
"Mr. Yates, I apologize, but I absolutely despise being threatened. Even your father, Robert, treats me with a modicum of respect. Who gave you the right to talk to me like that?"
Randal's laugh bordered on manic. "Because I'm a complete psycho. Surely, Mr. Sommers, you're aware of that?"
"Corbin, you'd better pray I don't find out you had anything to do with Willa's disappearance."
Dropping that lethal warning, he spun around to hunt down his two bodyguards.
The terrifying aura radiating off him nearly paralyzed the two men. Stuttering, they confessed that Zack was the one who had sent them away.
The second Randal heard Zack's name, the last thread of his sanity snapped.
The violent restlessness that had been clawing at his chest erupted, surging through his veins like liquid fire.
His perception of the world warped, shutting out everything but the sound of his own ragged breathing.
Lost in a manic episode, time lost all meaning.
He didn't know how long he spent scanning the room, but the moment his eyes locked onto Zack, a single, terrifying urge possessed him.
He wanted to kill.
Before Zack could even react, a brutal punch shattered his nose.
With that sickening crunch, every ounce of toxic rage Randal had been harboring found its violent release.
