Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 155

Willa leaned against the headboard, a book in her hands. Her eyes were fixed on the pages, but she couldn't process a single word.

She sat there rigidly for the better part of the day, resembling a soulless statue, completely detached from everything around her.

The sound of the electronic lock disengaging echoed from the front door.

Footsteps approached, stopping outside the guest room before the door was pushed open gently.

"Wills," Randal's voice called out, laced with a cautious hesitance.

Willa flipped a page, deliberately ignoring him.

He stepped inside and stopped by the bed, his tone even softer. "Wills, I'm home."

He pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and laid it on the blanket in front of her.

Willa caught a glimpse of it from the corner of her eye. It was a clinic receipt.

"I went to see Dr. Wallace for a checkup."

He let out a light laugh, trying to sound casual, but his voice was strained, betraying his barely concealed anxiety.

"I know you're still mad at me, but don't worry. Since being sick couldn't make you stay, I'll make sure to get properly treated. Otherwise, if I really scare you off, what would I do?"

Willa didn't even bat an eyelash, keeping her gaze glued to the book as if completely engrossed in it.

"Stop pretending." He snatched the book from her hands and tossed it onto the nightstand. "You haven't flipped a single page since I walked in."

Willa pressed her lips into a thin line and simply turned her back to him, utilizing her silence to make her resistance crystal clear.

But seconds later, Randal walked around to the other side of the bed, lifted the covers, and slid in beside her.

Willa's entire body went rigid. Before she could react, he pressed himself flush against her back, wrapping his arms around her to engulf her in his embrace. He rested his chin on her shoulder, his arm locked securely around her waist. The grip wasn't overly brutal, but it was tight enough that she couldn't break free.

"Wills." He buried his face in the crook of her neck, his voice muffled. "Don't ignore me. Please?"

Willa took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm. "Let go."
