Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 203

Willa's heart sank. "What did Stella do?"

"N-nothing really..." Naomi dodged the question. "She's just young and naive. Please don't ask..."

Willa's voice dropped to a freezing chill. "If you don't tell me, I'm hanging up."

"It's... it's that Stella... she went to see Mr. Yates..." Naomi stammered. "And he had been drinking that day, and Stella... she... she climbed into his bed..."

A loud ringing filled Willa's ears, drowning out the rest of the world.

Had he been so desperate that he went looking for someone else?

She suddenly felt utterly ridiculous for ever believing him, for even feeling a twinge of pity for the man.

With his background and status, there was no way he'd settle for having just one lover.

Women threw themselves at him constantly; how could he possibly resist that kind of temptation?

"Willa? Willa, are you there?" Naomi's tone grew urgent. "I know what Stella did was wrong, but it's not like Mr. Yates is the one who suffered here..."

Willa couldn't stomach another word. She coldly snapped, "I can't help you," and ended the call.

Her phone slipped from her fingers, landing softly on the duvet.

She sat frozen on the bed, staring blankly ahead.

The sunlight streaming through the window made the room comfortably warm, yet she felt freezing, a deep chill seeping straight into her bones.

She placed a protective hand over her lower abdomen, drawing in a long breath before exhaling slowly.

The doctor had warned her not to get too emotional.

Once she had managed to steady herself, she found Sophie's contact and hit dial.

The line connected on the first ring. "Willa? What's wrong?"

"Sophie, Stella slept with Randal," she stated with terrifying calm.

Sophie exploded over the speaker. "What? That little bitch! Who told you?"

"My mother," Willa replied. "She begged me to ask Randal to stop going after the Whitmans."
