Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 649

While trying to reason with the woman, Giselle kept shouting for help at the bystanders.

Just then, someone suddenly rushed over, picked up a brick from under a tree, and smashed it hard against the woman's head.

The woman howled in pain. Dizzy from the blow, she loosened her grip, and Giselle seized the chance to shove her to the ground and snatched the knife from her hand.

The woman lay limp on the ground, blood streaming from her head. She'd finally lost the strength to fight.

Seeing this, Giselle heaved a sigh of relief. She turned and looked at the person who had just saved her life.

It was a woman she knew, though not familiar with.

"What's wrong? You don't recognize me anymore?" Marselle rolled her eyes and snorted. "Honestly, I was shocked that I happened to run into you being chased. What bad luck."

Her snide remark snapped Giselle back to her senses.

"So it's you, Ms. Sterling," she said, forcing a smile.

Several security guards soon arrived after hearing the commotion. They quickly restrained the woman who had tried to kill her and decided to send her to the emergency room first before handing her over to the police.

After briefly explaining what happened to the guards, Giselle called the police. Her heart was still hammering against her chest when they took the knife away, sent the bleeding woman to the ER, and led the crying little girl away.

She turned back to Marselle. "Ms. Sterling, thanks for your help."

"I heard that on the day you married Donovan, someone jumped off a building," Marselle continued in a mocking tone. "The ceremony fell apart halfway. Honestly, it was funny seeing you run into misfortune again and again. I suddenly don't hate you anymore. If anything, I even find you a bit pitiful."

Something suddenly flashed in Giselle's mind. She stopped in her tracks.

She recalled her terrifying encounter with the woman earlier, then thought back to the incident where someone tampered with the tire on Donovan's car. They almost drove off the overpass. And before that, Benjamin was murdered at their wedding…

As she thought of the string of incidents happening in such a short time, coldness spread through her limbs. She even wondered if the fire at the theater she visited with Dorothea was also someone's attempt to kill her.

"What's wrong?" Marselle noticed her pale expression, then quickly understood. "Oh, right. You have that condition. Just pretend I was talking nonsense. Don't faint on me now."

"I won't." Giselle took a deep breath, then, feigning composure, she asked, "By the way, Ms. Sterling, why are you at this hospital today? Are you sick?"
