Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 648

Giselle turned around and realized it was a little girl around five or six years old.

"Miss, I can't find my mom," the girl said pitifully, staring at her with huge eyes. "Can you help me find my mom?"

Giselle ended the call and asked gently, "Where were you just now? Did you get separated from your mom?"

"Yes." The girl pointed in a direction. "I walked from over there. I've been looking for her for a long time, but I still can't find her. Can you help me look for her?"

"Do you remember your mom's phone number?"

The girl shook her head. "I don't remember."

Seeing how young the child was and realizing that they were right next to the internal parking area where multiple cars zoomed past them, Giselle decided she should take her to the hospital's security office.

"That way," the girl said, pointing toward a small path near the parking lot. "I lost my mom over there just now. Let's go look for her that way."

Giselle didn't think much about it. She assumed the girl's mother was probably searching in that direction, so she took the girl's hand and walked that way.

As they walked down the path, a woman suddenly emerged from a side lane, shouting the girl's name.

"Mom!" The girl called out as soon as she spotted her mother. She ran straight into the woman's arms.

Giselle was about to explain what happened to the woman with a smile, yet the woman was glaring at her, looking extremely hostile as she stormed toward Giselle.

"I've been looking for my daughter everywhere, but she was nowhere to be seen. So it was you who kidnapped her!" she snarled.

Giselle was befuddled. "No, I was over there on a phone call and then—"

"It was you!" The woman cut her off, her eyes burning with fury.

Murderous intent filled her eyes as she closed in on Giselle, shrieking hysterically, "How dare you steal my daughter? You sneaky bitch!"

Giselle's foot, however, caught on a stone again.

As she collapsed to the ground, the crazy woman seized the chance to pounce on her. Her face was twisted with rage as she raised the blade, ready to stab her chest.

Giselle grabbed the woman's wrist at the last second, holding on with all her strength.

"Calm down!" she shouted desperately. "I wasn't trying to take your daughter. I really wasn't! Let go of me!"

People nearby had heard the commotion, but they only watched from a distance, panicking and not knowing what to do. The knife in the woman's hands kept them from approaching. Some of them even started recording.

"Help!" Giselle felt her strength slipping away.

She kept screaming while gripping the woman's wrist as tightly as she could, but the tip of the blade was getting closer to her chest. The vicious look in the woman's eyes made her feel weak all over.

"No! Stop! I have nothing against you. Let go!" she screamed. "If you kill me, you'll go to jail. If they take you away, who's going to take care of your daughter?"
