Giselle said, "Okay."
Then she rolled her eyes at Anne, warning her, "Don't come around here again. If you keep pushing me, I'm more than happy to fight you. We'll see how long you're able to endure it."
"Is that so?" Anne sneered at the warning.
Gritting her teeth, she then chuckled and said, "Remember your words, Giselle. One day, you'll beg me for mercy. You and Donovan dragged me into hell, but I'll make you both pay tenfold. You'd better remember that…"
Normally, Giselle would have brushed off such empty threats, but today, seeing the increasingly sinister look on Anne's face, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
If it weren't for the fact that she was pregnant and trying to stay out of trouble, Giselle would have already come up with a strategy to send Anne to prison for good.
She had many ways to get rid of Anne, but she still had enough conscience left to keep her from taking Anne's life.
Besides, killing Anne would only drag her into legal trouble and ruin her own life. What would be the point?
More importantly, she was pregnant now. Her marriage with Donovan was finally peaceful, and she now had everything she once longed for. There was no sense in destroying her own happiness for someone so vile.
All she could do for now was stay on defense. Before the baby was born safely, she wanted to stay far away from anything dark or violent.
Once back in the office, Chris followed closely behind her, closing the door to her office behind him.
"Sorry," Chris said, his head lowered. "I didn't protect you in time. That was my mistake. Please forgive me."
"You did great. I was actually surprised at how quickly you showed up in the women's restroom. It was impressive," said Giselle lightly.
