Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 715

Over the next few days, Chris used the medicine Donovan had given him, and it worked like a charm.

His skin condition was not life-threatening, but the frequent flare-ups were torture. He had tried all sorts of random medications in the past, but nothing had ever cured it completely.

To his surprise, the medicine Donovan provided was truly miraculous. He even tested it by working out intensely to raise his body temperature, but the symptoms did not return.

Recalling the moment Donovan gave him the medicine and the look of genuine appreciation in Donovan's eyes on the golf course, Chris felt a sudden, inexplicable irritation when he thought about his real purpose for coming to this country.

At that moment, he was driving down the street.

After circling a few times, he finally pulled over in front of a shop selling roasted chestnuts.

He was out on a specific errand for Giselle. In her pregnancy, she often had sudden cravings for street food, and she wanted street food from specific brands only.

Just as Chris bought the chestnuts, paid, and was about to head back to the car, his phone rang.

Seeing Anne's name on the screen, his gaze darkened.

He scanned his surroundings cautiously before answering. "Hello?"

"Turn around," Anne said over the phone.

Chris turned and saw Anne standing at the entrance of an alleyway about 30 feet away, holding her phone to her ear.

"What is it?" he asked, watching her.

"Come over here first," Anne said.

Chris did not overthink it. He hung up and walked over with a grim expression.

When he reached her, he did not make eye contact. He stood with his side to her, pretending they were strangers. "It's not safe to meet here. Tell me another time. I need to get back to her."

Chris did not think much of the brief contact initially. But as he casually glanced to his left and right, he froze.

A tall man was walking out of the hospital main gate.

Chris had an excellent memory. Even though they had only met once, he instantly recognized the man as Gideon, Giselle's former flame.

As luck would have it, Gideon happened to look in their direction at that exact moment.

"Let's go. What are you looking at?" Anne urged, tightening her grip on his arm.

In that split second, Chris recoiled as if he had been burned.

He shoved Anne away violently, sending her crashing to the ground.

As she fell, he followed up with a kick to her back.
