Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 718

Following Donovan's order, Chris hesitated for a few seconds before doubling back to the villa.

He took the Bentley that Giselle used most often.

Once he left the villa, he did not drive straight to his destination as planned. Instead, he headed toward a bustling area downtown near a clubhouse and parked the car in a shopping mall's underground garage.

Then, he hailed a cab on the roadside and set off for the villa where he had met Anne before.

Indeed, whenever he visited Anne's residence, he always took a cab to cover his tracks. He never drove any of Donovan's and Giselle's vehicles.

40 minutes later, the cab arrived near a lakefront villa.

Chris got out, walked some distance through the night, punched in the passcode, and entered the grounds.

Pushing open the unlocked living room door, he found the room brightly lit. Anne was reclining on the couch, chugging wine directly from the bottle.

Seeing Chris arrive, she sobered up slightly from her drunken haze.

She had been eagerly awaiting his arrival, but the moment she actually saw him, her brief joy was replaced by sudden rage.

She hurled the wine bottle at him.

The bottle missed Chris but shattered loudly against the floor.

Chris barely reacted to her outburst.

Chris had no choice but to step forward and reluctantly embrace her.

Anne, who had never been clingy with any man, felt only the desire to be a gentle, submissive woman whenever she was in his arms. She could not help but press her cheek tightly against his chest.

After holding him for a while, Anne looked up, her eyes burning with intensity. "Why do you never smile at me? Do you actually miss me?"

Facing Anne's passionate gaze, Chris felt absolutely nothing.

Back when he was abroad, he had his pick of women. He was not one for debauchery, but he satisfied his urges when he had to. He had slept with all kinds of women, viewing them strictly as outlets for relief.

Falling in love was absolutely out of the question.
