Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 738

"Where do we meet?" Chris asked.

"The usual place! Hurry up!" Anne shouted over the phone. "I want to see you within half an hour. Otherwise, you'll suffer consequences yourself!"

With that, she hung up.

Chris sat silently in the car for a while, then gave the driver the address of a villa and told him to reroute.

More than half an hour later, the cab arrived outside a lakeside villa on the outskirts. After paying, he got out and walked a quarter mile to the villa. He then entered the villa's access code and pushed the door open.

As soon as he stepped into the living room, Anne stormed over from the floor-to-ceiling window. Just like last time, she raised her hand, intending to slap him.

But Chris caught her wrist midair and shoved her aside. With little effort, he sent her sprawling onto the carpet.

His rough handling only made Anne more hysterical.

She forced herself up from the floor and lunged at him like a madwoman, pounding her fists against him before screaming at him at the top of her lungs.

"Didn't we agree to stick to the plan? Why did you jump out halfway to save her? What are you playing at? I finally found a chance to get rid of her. Why did you back out? Why?"

Chris was fed up with Anne. He turned his face away and answered flatly, without emotion. "She'd already been bitten. The goal was achieved. Going in to save her at that point wouldn't raise suspicion."

"Couldn't you have come out later? Why couldn't you wait until she was half-dead before showing up?"

"This is all your fault!" The more she thought about how Chris had dropped the ball at the critical moment, the angrier she became.

She shook him violently. "We would have succeeded! I picked the perfect opportunity! You ruined everything! You've killed so many people, yet you don't dare touch that bitch. You're a coward! You're destined to be her slave for life!"

The noise finally pushed Chris past his limits. He shoved her away again, sending her crashing back onto the floor.

Turning his back on her, he walked out of the living room and sat heavily on the front steps. He took out a cigarette and lit it, letting the smoke fill his lungs in an attempt to soothe his foul mood.

As he smoked, he couldn't help but replay scene after scene of what had happened on the plantation.
