Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 759

Gideon no longer had the strength to say anything. Suppressing the turmoil inside him, he staggered out of the office and gently closed the door.

Out in the corridor, his head felt foggy. He forced himself to pull it together and strode toward the stairs.

When the elevator doors opened, a man stepped out. Gideon glanced over and saw it was Giselle's personal bodyguard, Chris.

Meanwhile, Chris was on high alert as well. He gazed at Gideon warily.

Gideon was already in a foul mood, and seeing Chris' face only made it worse. The thought that this man could freely move in and out of Giselle's life whenever he pleased made him feel bitter.

Gideon wasn't about to talk to Chris. He stepped into the elevator with a grim expression and accidentally brushed hard against Chris' shoulder.

The impact made Chris turn back instinctively, shooting him a cold look. Their eyes met; both wore sullen, hostile expressions.

Gideon, however, clearly felt a sense of superiority. His disdain for Chris showed plainly in his eyes and brows.

Soon, the elevator doors slid shut, cutting off their hostile encounter.

After going downstairs, Gideon got into his car and drove aimlessly along the road. As he drove, his thoughts drifted back to his parting with Giselle just now, and his speed gradually slowed.

Cars behind him kept honking, but he didn't react. He was dazed, not knowing where he was or where he was going next.

Gideon had thought he'd already let it go, that he'd made peace with it. Yet, his mood kept swinging from good to bad. That longing, buried deep in his bones, was like a recurring cycle; it surged back every month with a haunting regularity, refusing to let him go.

He didn't know how long he'd been wandering outside. Near dusk, he finally returned to the villa where he'd been staying.

Gideon didn't get angry even though he was soaked. It was as if a mosquito had bitten him—he merely shifted, then simply got up and headed upstairs without a word.

Ever since deciding to marry Marselle, his attitude toward her had changed drastically. He was no longer the crude, unreasonable man he'd been at the start; instead, he became accommodating, yielding to her demands.

Gideon gave Marselle everything she wanted—the password to his bank card, knowledge of his assets, a role in his company's management, the wedding venue, and style. He agreed to it all.

No matter how she acted up or made a scene, he felt nothing inside and let her be. She even asked him to return to Singario with her and have the child take her surname, and he agreed.

The only thing he couldn't give was emotional warmth, and that was precisely what Marselle needed most.

Watching him stagger upstairs, practically half-dead and desperate to escape, Marselle felt that her earlier outburst had been for naught. Unwilling to accept it, she chased after him again.
