Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 764

"Excuse me, has Ms. Sterling been transferred to another ward? Or has she been transferred to another hospital?" Gideon asked the nurse.

"I don't know," the nurse said. "Her family helped complete the discharge procedures. She's no longer staying here, and they didn't say whether it was a transfer or anything else. I'm not too sure."

Gideon felt uneasy. He immediately took out his phone to call Marselle, but the automated message said her phone had been powered off.

Just then, Ethan called him.

"Hello?" he rasped. "What is it?"

Ethan's voice sounded low over the phone.

"Jonathan's just messaged me. They boarded the family plane and took her back to Singario. Now that it's come to this, let's just end it here. You're lucky you didn't get into bigger trouble. Pull yourself together and get back to the company to focus on work."

Ethan felt that Gideon had a solid background. Even if he couldn't forge an alliance with the Sterling family, he could still marry into another family of the same class. There was no need to keep wasting time here; it was more important for him to turn his thoughts back to his career.

But Gideon's chest felt tight as Ethan hung up. He staggered back into his car, as if a bottomless pit had opened in his chest, and he was falling deep into it. He stared blankly, wrapped tightly in hollow loneliness.

"Mr. Grayson, are we going home now? Or to the company?" Frank asked from the driver's seat.

"To the airport."

At this point, they were practically joined at the hip.

After spending so much time with him every day, Donovan gradually let down his guard around Chris, building a special employer-employee rapport.

Donovan saw that Chris had both brains and skills. He was absolutely loyal, well-attuned to his needs, quick and efficient. He would consistently exceed expectations to deliver perfect results.

Chris could also be somewhat like a friend. As men, they shared some common hobbies, and Chris helped Donovan unwind and take a break from his work as the big boss, teaching him things he'd always liked but was never any good at.

Most importantly, Chris had his own mind. He wouldn't try to flatter him like other employees. He was able to both obey orders and speak with him as an equal, depending on what Donovan needed. Donovan found himself relying on this competent assistant and bodyguard more and more.
