Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 766

As Georgia spoke, she leaned in to press herself against Donovan again. In her mind, his intentions were clear from the instructions he'd given to Chris to wait outside.

But to her surprise, before she could even touch him, Donovan turned and walked over to the full-length window, keeping a deliberate distance between them.

"Ms. Laker, I'm sure you know I am a married man. Let's not make things awkward. If we're doing business, let's talk business."

"We're done with all that business talk. Now's the time to relax, isn't it?"

Georgia assumed that Donovan had felt self-conscious, being caught off guard by the sudden interruption. She walked up behind him again, circling her arms around his waist.

"Mr. Kane, we're all adults here. We've both been through marriage, and we know each other so well. There's no need to be so polite with me." Georgia's voice turned exceedingly tender.

Countless women had confessed to Donovan and clung to him before; he'd never felt any embarrassment about it. If it had been any other woman he wasn't interested in, he'd have simply shoved her aside without sparing her feelings.

But the woman behind him was tied to his interests, and he couldn't afford to lose his temper there. As an industry leader in pharmaceutics, Donovan often had to deal with people from certain agencies, and he'd always maintained good relations with those in power.

And Georgia happened to be a key figure at the National Drug Administration. He'd known her for eight years—when she was still a regular staffer. Now, having just turned 40, Georgia had risen to a critical position, and she and Donovan shared plenty of dinners.

"Your wife's pregnant. That's exactly why you need this," Georgia had already shed her workplace persona, libido ramped up. She couldn't help pressing herself against him again. "Don't worry. We both have families. I know what I'm doing. As long as we have a good time together, it'll be fine."

As she spoke, her heartbeat quickened, and she lunged to kiss his lips with a feral hunger.

Outside the office, Chris had stepped out to light a cigarette in the open air. As he smoked, he mulled over what might be happening inside with Donovan. As a fellow man, he wasn't surprised at all, running his thoughts instead through the practicalities from Donovan's perspective.

After finishing his cigarette, he decided to head downstairs to the convenience store and buy a box of condoms for him. But as he walked toward the elevator, he looked up to see a familiar figure making her way toward him.
