In the end, Chris carried Giselle's unconscious form and laid her on the couch.
He couldn't help but worry after seeing her seize like that. To make matters worse, she was eight months along. So, he called an ambulance out of worry that the baby might have suffered hypoxia.
Giselle was awake by the time the ambulance arrived. However, she wasn't exactly all there.
She was still dazed, and her limbs weren't listening to her after she regained her consciousness. When she noticed the unfamiliar face before her, she couldn't help but stare at them vacantly as she murmured, "Where am I? What happened?"
Chris helped the paramedic lift Giselle onto the stretcher and accompanied her all the way to the ambulance downstairs.
It took them an hour before they finally got to the hospital. When they did, the spiderwebs had finally cleared from her mind, and she swiftly realized that she'd had another episode!
Although the doctor had told her the baby hadn't been significantly affected by her episode and all signs indicated that the baby was in good health, she still couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face.
She couldn't believe it. She'd gone over a year without suffering an episode, so she'd assumed that she would be able to stop her epilepsy medication in another two years. Yet, she suffered another episode when she was heavily pregnant.
She couldn't bring herself to even consider what would have happened if she'd fallen during the episode. What would have happened to her baby if she'd been alone?
She was lying on her side and drowning in her sorrows when someone gently pushed the door open.
She looked up and saw that Chris had entered her ward.
Her blood pressure rose the second she saw him. Her fingers twisted around the sheets as she instinctively reached for her phone, fully intending to call the cops on him. Alas, she blindly swept her hand on the side table and still couldn't feel it anywhere.
