Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 788

Chris and Georgia went round after round.

It was already 10:00 pm by the time they were done.

Once she was fully satisfied, she couldn't help but shyly lean against Chris. She couldn't stop herself from caressing his face as she murmured, "You're amazing. Truly, the best man I've ever had. Why, oh, why didn't I meet you sooner?"

She was a woman who had clawed her way to a high position working in the government. Therefore, she fit the bill as a domineering she‑devil when it came to her job. At work, her word was law. As such, people flocked and fawned over her, but tended to keep their distance in private.

In the meantime, her marriage to her husband had long since fallen apart. He'd been cheating on her for years. They stayed married for the sake of their interests. Suffice it to say, her marriage was an empty one with practically zero intimacy.

She spent her days drowning in political maneuvering, in a place where it was to scheme or be schemed against. Yet, she had to return to a cold and empty space whenever she trudged back home.

So, it would be an understatement to say that she was lonely both body and soul. It would definitely be a lie to say that she didn't have needs.

Alas, the men she had her eyes on were either out of her league or had no interest in getting intimate with her at all.

As for the younger men with poorer prospects? Well, they only knew how to pander to her. It definitely didn't help that their performance in bed was mostly mediocre. So, she found herself bored with men like that after dipping her toes in that particular pond.

Chris was different. He might not be rich, but he met all her needs and requirements to a T.

Chris wasn't handsome in a delicate, pretty‑boy way. However, he had good features and was ripped. He carried a rugged edge that just so happened to be exactly Georgia's type.

Moreover, he was quiet and reserved. He was never one for nonsense, nor had he ever done anything to curry her favor. Instead, he kept his head down and got things done. He seemed like the honest sort, but she had him pegged as a smart one despite the short time they'd spent together.

He never expected that the enemy he had failed to kill would return three years later for revenge. This time, he'd abducted his newborn second son, who had only been a year and a half old.

He had tried everything he could to rescue his son, but the baby was still killed.

After losing two children in such a horrific way, his Valantian wife couldn't take the blow. Her mind shattered, and she ended her own life with a knife.

He didn't go mad with grief even after enduring these horrific upheavals. Instead, he'd gone numb. It was as if there was a hole where his heart was supposed to be. Now that he had nothing, he became even more ruthless and utterly unrestrained.

Of course, he couldn't reveal such shocking truths to Georgia. So, he glossed most of it over and gave her the heavily edited version, claiming that his children were dead and his wife had remarried. He'd come to Valanthea alone and had no one else.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Georgia felt a wave of pity upon learning that he'd lost his child. So, she couldn't help but be sentimental and say, "You can just stay by my side from now on. I'll make sure you'll have nothing to worry about as long as you keep me happy."
