Chris fell silent upon hearing Georgia's words. After a beat, he said, "I'm going back to Malithorn in a while."
"Back to Malithorn?" Georgia was somewhat surprised. "What do you mean? Are you going there for a business trip?"
"No."
"Then, why are you going back? Aren't you doing just fine working for Donovan?"
Georgia wrapped her arms tighter around his, speaking bluntly, "Don't you go running off! I can get you a new job if you're not happy with the one you're doing. Who's going to keep me company if you leave?"
Chris didn't know how to explain his circumstances. So, he fell silent once more, allowing Georgia to lean against him while his thoughts drifted far, far away.
"By the way, I have a question. Do you still plan on getting married someday?" Georgia asked.
"No, never again." He didn't even hesitate to give her that answer when it came to this topic.
He'd long since lost any desire for marriage after suffering the devastating loss of his wife and children. Honestly, he absolutely didn't want more children. At this point, he was just taking life as it came.
"Not getting married is good," Georgia answered, very satisfied with his decision. After all, she wasn't getting any younger and had a child studying abroad. So, divorce wasn't an option for her.
It really was quite a stroke of luck for her to get her claws on an "anti-marriage" man like Chris, who'd been traumatized by his marital history.
So, her demeanor toward him softened further as she coaxed, "Then, let's date. I promise to treat you well if we're exclusive."
Given her current position within the government, he should feel flattered that she'd taken the initiative to offer something like this to him.
