Watching Chris get hit by the car sent a shockwave through Donovan's brain. With his heart pounding in his chest, he rushed over to the scene.

Chris collapsed on the ground. He was still conscious, but his body looked like a broken puppet. He was completely unable to stand, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

Donovan did not try to help him up. He crouched down and told Chris to hang on while he calmly took out his phone to call 911.

Hearing the commotion, other people gathered around to watch. Some of them also called the police.

The owner of the vehicle was none other than the middle-aged man who had provoked Donovan in the lobby two hours earlier. He was the same man Chris had kicked.

When Donovan saw the perpetrator slumped in the driver's seat, reeking of alcohol, he gritted his teeth. He had not expected this drunken man to have the energy to seek revenge at a time like this.

However, Donovan wasn't in the mood to deal with the man right now. He was only worried about Chris' injuries. His thick brows were furrowed, and his eyes were full of anxiety as he checked on the ambulance's progress.

Finally, the ambulance arrived, and the paramedics lifted the injured Chris onto a stretcher.

The police also arrived and took the driver into custody.

Donovan waited outside the emergency room the entire time. In the middle of the wait, he received a call from Giselle urging him to come home.
