Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 809

"My water just broke." Realizing the emergency, Giselle instructed Chris, "Call an ambulance. Hurry! If we wait, the baby could go into distress."

Chris' brow furrowed deeply. He carefully lowered her to the grass so she could lie flat, then pulled out his phone to call for an ambulance. He then sprinted back into the villa, grabbed a blanket, and spread it beneath her.

"I'm sorry." He seemed to forget what he had just done. Instinctively, he apologized. "Hold on—the ambulance is coming. Just hang on."

Giselle was too consumed by fear for her baby to care about his apology. "Call Donovan now!"

Donovan was at a production facility in the suburbs for meetings and had engagements planned for the evening. He was absent at the exact moment he was needed most. Chris called him twice in a row, but there was no answer—whether Donovan was too busy to hear it or was deliberately ignoring him after their clash the day before, Chris didn't know.

When the ambulance arrived, Chris helped the paramedics lift Giselle onto the stretcher. At the hospital, she was wheeled straight into the obstetrics ward for an emergency evaluation.

Fortunately, they had arrived in time. The baby was stable, and the doctors determined that labor was progressing normally.

Since there were no immediate complications, the doctor concluded she was fit for a natural delivery. Surgery was unnecessary, but she would have to endure the mounting pain in the delivery room.

Chris was left to wait anxiously in the corridor. As the adrenaline faded, remorse set in. He replayed the confrontation at the villa over and over, terrified that his outburst had caused this.

When a nurse finally stepped out, he rushed forward. "Excuse me, how is she? Is she safe?"
