Heath gave a command after receiving Donovan's signal. Five tall and burly bodyguards in black uniforms emerged immediately.

Chris did not have time to react before the group surrounded him.

The lead bodyguard threw a punch that left Chris dazed. The others shoved him to the ground immediately after. Fists rained down on him like a storm.

Acting on orders, the bodyguards treated him like a human punching bag. They kicked and punched him mercilessly. It looked like they intended to beat him to death.

Chris did not fight back against the assault. He instinctively covered his head at first but eventually let the fists smash into him without uttering a sound.

He was soon battered and bloody. Blood flowed from his nose and mouth. He collapsed completely as heavy blows landed on his abdomen, back, chest, legs, and arms. His world spun, and his consciousness began to blur.

He lay on the floor and coughed up blood. He looked through the gaps between the bodyguards' legs and saw Donovan leaning back on the couch.

Donovan smoked expressionlessly and watched Chris' misery and pain from above. It was as if Chris were merely an ant beneath his feet that could be crushed at any moment.

The brutal scene was too much even for Heath. He couldn't bear to watch any longer and asked Donovan tentatively, "Sir, are you really going to beat him to death? Should we make them stop?"

"Continue. He's tough." Donovan kept a blank expression. He didn't even blink as he looked at the bloodied man on the floor. It seemed he really did want to beat Chris to death right there.

He finally signaled the bodyguards to stop when they were exhausted.

Chris appeared to be on his last breath.

"What are you doing?" She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Chris' condition.

She shouted at Donovan. "What did you do to him? We need to get him to the hospital!"

Then, she turned to Heath. "Call an ambulance immediately! Hurry!"

Chris was too heavily injured. He passed out before Donovan could completely let go of his collar.

Donovan felt a flicker of unease as he watched Chris lose consciousness completely.
