Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 839

Chris spent the next few days recovering at home while trying his best to establish a bond with Billy.

He taught Billy Valanthean every day, hoping to help him adapt to this new environment as quickly as possible.

However, Chris had clearly underestimated the extent of the physical and mental devastation Billy had suffered in that savage environment. It was impossible to change him overnight.

Billy not only refused to learn the language but also could not be bothered to speak at all. Occasionally, when angry, he would scream at Chris in a Cambirian dialect.

Furthermore, Billy seemed bent on returning to the training base where violence was worshipped and he could play with guns and knives. He tried to find opportunities to escape from time to time. Chris had to lock him in his room at night to keep him safe.

Billy was full of aggression. He had already stabbed Chris twice with a knife, thrown boiling water at Joanne, and stabbed a bodyguard in the ear with a screwdriver.

His capacity for destruction was astonishing. Devoid of any childhood innocence, he was like a living, breathing, soulless killing machine.

Chris went to the hospital that morning to have his dressing changed. He was only gone for two hours.

To his shock, just as he pushed open the door upon his return, he saw Joanne sitting on the balcony making a phone call. Billy was standing behind her, using a lighter to secretly set her hair on fire.

Chris was instantly furious. He rushed in, pulled Billy away, and quickly patted out the flames on Joanne's hair.

He turned around to glare at Billy. Anger rushed to his head, and he slapped the latter across the face.

Billy did not even blink after taking the slap. Without taking a step back, he just glared at Chris viciously.
