"He is getting married again?" Giselle asked in surprise.
"Yes." Dorothea sighed with clear displeasure. "Ethan and I approved of the marriage, but Gideon refused to hold the wedding here. He told us not to attend because he wanted a low-key ceremony. However, he is a grandson of the Kane family, so I have to go."
Giselle felt confused. She did not expect this. It was only six months ago that Gideon and Marselle had the conflict that led to the termination of her pregnancy. How could they be getting married in Singario so soon?
It seemed Gideon had truly found his happiness. That explained why he had not contacted Giselle for half a year. He must have been with Marselle in Singario the whole time.
The news did not make her happy or sad. She just found it hard to accept how fast everything had happened.
"Is he going to settle down in Singario for good?" Giselle asked casually.
Dorothea sighed again. "That is what he told Ethan. He said he is never coming back. I don't know if he is just acting out or if he is serious. Either way, I disagreed."
"Think about it," Dorothea continued. "The Sterling family has plenty of sons and does not need a live-in son-in-law. Why would Gideon settle there? It looks bad.
"Besides, his company headquarters and market are here. How can he just move? Once he gets married or has a child, I will make Ethan order him back."
Giselle felt a bit suffocated but did not say much. She tried to comfort Dorothea. "I don't think you should force him. Let him live where he wants. He never formally returned to the family anyway, so we have no right to interfere."
Dorothea choked on her words for a moment.
"It is all because Grace is too petty. It has been so many years, and Gideon is a grown man now. She still makes a fuss every day."
