“I had too he had a right to know” I argued.

“Great thats just great Lena really what I need right now. A pissed off mate‘ He grumbled.

“I’ll go calm him down‘ I sighed.

“Yeah you go do that while I’ll pack for Rio where he’ll never find me

“Quit being so dramatic‘ I huffed walking toward the back of the cottage.

The sound of my feet agasint the wood was soft. The small of the cottage was woodsy and spicy. As I grew closer and closer to the last door I could smell my mate.

Taking in a deep breath I opened the door.

The man in the room was not my beloved mate.

His eyes were wild and unfocused. His hair was wet with sweat along with his bare body. His muscles tensed and relaxed

constantly. Growls and snarls erupted from his chest.

Shackles wrapped around his wrist which were conected to chains that were bolted to the wall behind him.

He had room to move but not much.

I knew the metal in the shackles prevented him from shifting but from the looks of him his wolf was barely contained.

“Shadow..it–its me Lena” I said taking a step forward. He growled but I didn’t let it scare me.

‘Baby you need to calm down it just me” I whispered my voice trembling slightly.

Before I could see it coming he jerked forward and back handed me across the face sending me to the floor.

I cried out and quickly rolled away just as his claws ripped into my arm.

Gritting my teeth I placed a hand over my arm as blood seeped through my fingers.

I stared at Shadow, tears filled my eyes. I couldn’t believe he’d actually hit me.

Simon ran in a swore. Gently he wrapped his arms around me and helped me up guiding me out the room.

Th–That’s not him. He would never.”

‘Shh I know I know‘ Simon soothed.

I sat numbly in one of the chairs in the kitchen as Simon stitched my wounds closed on my arm. When he was done he

sighed and washed his hands of my blood.

Lightly his fingers grazed my cheek.

“Its already start to bruise” He murmured.

I dropped my head into my hands. I breath in raggedly and felt a tear slip down my cheek.

“Hey its going to be alright he’ll calm down soon enough” Simon soothed pulling me against his chest.

“You tell anyone I cried I’ll kick your ass” I whispered against his neck.

His chest shook with his laughter.

“Come on lets work on finding your sister while we wait. I need to keep my mind busy” I said pulling back and wiping my hands across my face.

He nodded and grabbed a file that had been laying on the table.

“This is where I’m at so far.”

Hours later my eyes felt heavy, exhaustion coursed through me.

I’d called my brothers to assure them everything was fine and I’d call when I’d be home again.

Simon was typing fiercely on his laptop as I laid next to him on the couch my eyes dropping.

Just as I was falling to sleep I heard my name being called.

‘L–Lena?”

My head snapped up, suddenly I was wide awake.

“Lena…anyone?‘

Quickly I jumped off the couch and ran to the back of the cottage. I threw open the door to reveal a confused Shadow.

A sigh of relief shuddered out from my lips. I ran forward and dropped before him wrapping my arms around his neck.

He hugged me back his arms almost crushing me.

“Oh god baby girl I’m so sorry please forgive me, I never ment to hurt you‘ He rasped emotion thick in his voice.

‘I know Shadow I know I soothed running my fingers through his hair.

He pulled back and grimaced when he saw my bruised face.

He swallowed hard and took a deep breath.
