Lena Rose P.O.V
Shadow seemed even more possessive of me but I didn’t say anything. I stood against the kitchen counter and went
through a file on Simon’s laptop. Shadow had his body pressed tightly against mine his arms wrapped around my waist
just as tight.
His chin rested on my shoulder his breath tickling my cheek. He gently started to nuzzle his face against mine his lips
skimming my shoulder.
I blinked and cleared my throat trying to focus on what I had been reading. Apparently my grandfather had contacts
with a certain rouge that was known for his viciousness. He was known to do anything for the right amount of cash.
My grandfather had many friends and it seemed this rouge was used a lot to do their dirty work. Like kidnapped a
innocent child.
Simon had become frustrated with the progress of our research. Though we knew the rouge was the most likely
candidate we found it was nearly impossible to track him down. Probably why people like my grandfather had used him.
“Lena baby come on you need to take a break” Shadow whispered in my ear.
I closed my eyes and leaned back into his embrace. It wasn’t like i could concentrate with him pressed all over me
anyways.
Simon had left about an hour ago claiming one of his friends had found something that might interest us
Shadow pulled me toward the couch and sat me in his lap.
I stared into his eyes and turned so I was straddling him. My eyes still connected with his I ran my fingers through his hair my nails gently scratching his scalp. His eyes fluttered closed a growl rumbling in his chest.
‘Lena we need to talk” He sighed after a moment his eyes opening lazily.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and nodded.
One of his hands cupped my cheek the other pressing on the lower of my back.
‘My pack needs me. I need to return to them and…..I want you to come with me. Be my Alpha female. My eyes widen in
shock my words coming out in a stutter.
‘But….I can’t leave Simon he needs me, his sister needs me
Shadow shook his head frustrated. ‘Lena Simon is a grown man and from what I’ve seen he has plenty of friends. I don’t
want you in danger and I don’t want my pack suffering anymore.”
I swallowed hard at his words my mind spining.
“Are you telling me I have to choose between you and Simon?”

Shadow’s eyes clouded over his body tensing. “Considering I’m your mate I thought you wouldn’t have to think about it
but I guess I was wrong.”
I slipped off his lap and stood up “Shadow there is a little girls life in danger!”
“Yes but if you go after her it’ll also be your life in danger and I can’t accept that…..I can’t lose you Lena‘ He whispered
hoarsely.
I shook my head. “Shadow I can’t just pick you and ignore Simon’s plea for help. I have to do this”
“No your choosing to help him and by that your picking him over me. I see were I stand now” He growled stiffly.
I swallowed hard and reached for him “Shadow no please don’t act like this”
“Don’t act like what Lena? I have to go back to my pack! I have duties, responsibilities that have been left unattained because I was—” He closed his eyes agony flashing across his face for a moment before it was gone replaced with anger.
“I thought you would have understood Lena” He turned and walked out slaming the door behind him his anger still
tainting the air.
I sank down into the couch my head dropping into my hands. What had I done now?
I stared at myself in the mirror wondering why my life had to be so complicated.
Why did it seem me and Shadow could never be together?
It was as if the world was against us,
It was around three when he finally returned. He didn’t speak to me or even look my way. I was slightly surprised he’d returned at all. He’d gone to bed without a word and I bit my lip so I wouldn’t cry.
I stared at him now as he slept. He’d been through so much yet he was still here with me. Even after our fight.
I shook my head and closed my eyes. Was I really picking Simon over him? Yes.
I knew with or with out me Simon would find his sister. But could I really abandon him. Could I really hold Shadow pack from leading his pack? From being around his people?
Standing up I walked out our room and found Simon in the living looking at some papers
He glanced up when he heard me but once he saw my face he sighed and put the papers down
“Your leaving aren’t you‘ He said the words in a flat tone.
I flinched and sighed forcing myself to sit next to him.
‘I don’t want to but….Shadow I paused and took a breath.
“I need to be the mate he deserves. I keep pushing and pushing him and soon I’ll lose him I can’t lose him Simon‘ I

whispered.
‘He has people who needs him and I’m being selfish keeping him here. I really am sorry but I need to be a good mate to
him‘
Simon rubbed his face exhaustion clear.
“I understand Lena I just……I have to find my sister‘
