Lena P.O.V

I had been shaking so bad Simon had been forced to sedate me.

I woke up in a car to see a familiar sight out the window.

My uncle sat in the passenger seat asleep and I felt a ping a guilt knowing the trip would have caused more harm to his

body. Ambria sat beside me in a chair seat asleep her head bobbing lightly as we moved along the road.

“How far?‘ I whispered.

Simon glanced back at me then back to the road.

“Ten minutes top Babe I promise” he whispered softly.

I swallowed deeply and nodded.

I placed my head in my hands and prayed. I prayed to the goddess and anyone who was listening.

‘Please don’t take him from me‘ I begged.

‘He’s not perfect and he needs help. I’ll get him help he’ll be better then but please just let me have him.‘

When we finally reached the house I felt as if I was going ot break into a million pieces.

Sam appeared from no where and jerked opened my door. Without a word he picked me up and ran inside the house up

the stairs. Another pack mate opened Shadow’s door revealing my mate.

A sob escaped me at the sight of him.

His skin was the color of death. The color of a body that had been dead for a long, long time. The only thing that

reassured me he was still alive with the slight movement of his chest,

“Alpha he only has such little time‘ Sam whispered.

I nodded and he gently laid me down beside Shadow.

Tears spilled from my eyes as I gentley laid my hand on his cheek.

“Can you please give us privacy?” I asked.

Sam and the others bowed their heads and quickly left the door closing behind them.

I ran my fingers along his face tears coating my cheeks.

‘Shadow please wake up. I’ll never leave again just wake up I sobbed.

I begged and pleaded for him to wake up but it was useless.

‘Shadow I’ll never accept anyone but you. Even if you wolf chooses some one else I’ll only choose you. I love you so much

please……..please wake up‘ I cried.

Nothing happened.

Hours passed and no change. I cried and pleading but there was no change.

After a while the others came in and sat around us their faces sorrowful.

I clung to him tears falling from me non stop. “Please wake up Shadow” I whispered running my fingers through his

hair.

Suddenly the sound of Shadow’s heart beat slowed causing everyone to tense.

“No no no Shadow please” I whispered grabbing his face.

His breathing decreased and his heart stuttered.

“Damn it Shadow don’t leave me! I deserve better then this your not allowed to leave me” I yelled.

A woman started to sob behind me and I could feel the pitying stares on me but I didn’t care. I woulnd’t let Shadow

leave me.

As his heart beat grew even fainter I began to panic.

‘If Shadow dies I have to no reason to live. It won’t matter if you move to a new human I’ll be dead. I only want shadow‘ I said speaking to Shadow’s wolf.

His heart beat slowed and his chest gradually stopped moving. “No no no no oh god please no!” I screamed and buried my face in his chest my heart feeling as if it had been ripped from me. This couldn’t be happing.

My wolf howled in agony and I felt like howling with her.

“NO! I screamed my body shaking violently as sobs clawing through me.

Desperately I started to do CPR. I knew it wouldn’t make a difference but I had to try.

“Shadow PLEASE! I screamed.

I felt arms go around me pulling me back causing me to scream and thrash desperate to get back to my mate

No no no no no this had to be a sick nightmare.

I couldn’t lose him I couldn’t.

Suddenly Shadow’s back arched and he breathed raggedly before falling back on to the bed his heart beat suddenly filling the room. He groaned quietly his eyes fluttering open.

“Shadow?” I whimpered.

His eyes flickered to me confused panic slightly reflecting in them.

Then as if a light had be switch his face lit up in recognition.

I ripped myself away from the arms around me and flew onto the bed.

“Shadow oh thank god I cried kissing his face, neck, lips, any where I could get. He lifted up and wrapped his arms tight

around me his body shaking just as bad as mine.

“I–I promise I’ll never leave again just don’t ever do that to me I can’t go through that a second time.” I sobbed into his

chest.
