Book2 Chapter38
Nervous yet furious. I had no idea if the man standing in the living was my real grandfather or the one who had tortured Shadow along with his demented Mistress.
“Who are you‘ I snarled.
The man turned around revealing the face I’d known for years.
‘Alec‘ I swallowed.
The man who I had seen tortured as a child. Always at beck and call for Claire.
“Granddaughter” He smiled taking a step forward.
I took a step back snarling. Shadow growling just as loud his arm around my waist.
The others had wanted to come to but I told them it was something I had to deal with alone. Of course Shadow had instantly protested and I realized I probably couldn’t handle being away from him so soon.
The man sighed and gave me a sad look before slowly sitting down.
“I guess I should explain shouldn’t i?
I gave him a look and he laughed slightly.
“It was years before your mother or uncles were born. Me and your grandmother were blissfully happy ruling the kingdom. I trusted few people though knowing many wanted me dead for my power.
One of those who I trusted was Hunter.” Alec shook his head and sighed heavily.
“Hunter was my best friend and look after my wife when I was gone. I no know he used those trips to cast spells on her. He poisoned her and filled her mind with so many riddles and lies that she lost sight of what was real and what was fantasy. I came home one night to see them……..kissing.”
Alec’s face clouded over with the memory.
“But then she laughed and called me Hunter. She acted as if she had nothing wrong. I shook her and yelled, asking what was going on but she just cowered from me yelling to Hunter…..but she called him by my name.”
Alec ran a hand over his face.
‘I looked into her eyes as saw they weren’t right. They looked daze and unfocused.I knew then he’d twisted her mind. My bestfriend the one I had trusted most had betrayed me. Hunter told his little witch to cast the glamour over him and in seconds he morhoed into a new form. He morphed into me.”
Shadow pulled us to the couch as sat us down.
The witch cast a glamour over me and before I knew I was the man you grew up seeing” Alec said looking to me. Book2 Chapter38
“Hunter called the guards and had me thrown in the dungeon. For years I stayed down there rotting away.”
Alec growled and shook his head.
“It wasn’t till people demanded heirs to the throne that Hunter made a deal with me. He wouldn’t touch any of the children I sired and wouldn’t turn their minds. See he was unable to mate with my wife since we were fully mated. The only reason he even kept me alive was because if he killed me she would also die. He needed her and he couldn’t risk losing her. So every night he would drag me from my cell and lock me in a room with her. She knew who I was during
those nights but that was all.”
He took a deep breath and continued on.
*After she got pregant with Clayton I was thrown back into my cell for the time being. Once the people depanded for another heir I was again given the chance to be with my wife. She had the twins and then my sweet little Emma.”
Alec smiled fondly.
“Emma was the only one I was able to hold. Hunter told me what he was going to do with her and I pleaded and begged for him to not take my daughter from my wife but of course he didn’t listen. The nect moringing I could her my wife’s wails from my cell. I cried with her knowing my daughter had been moved. Years passed and your mother showed up with her mate Luke. Hunter ranted in front of my cell every night about how she had ruined everything and how he was going to have to kill her. I was so happy that she had found her way home but knew she wouldn’t be able to escape
Hunter’s hands.‘
Alec paused and stared at his hands. They were shaking slightly his shoulder hunched.
‘I’d lost of hope for much back then. I’d been a prisoner for many years and knew what Hunter was capable of. When news of your mothers pregnancy reached me I knew she had little time. It was quiet for awhile and I didn’t hear much. Then one night Hunter dragged me out into the night and into a car. He shoved you into my arms and we were off. He meet Claire when you were four and he gave her me as a gift. I raised you till you didn’t need me and then he took
control and trained you into what you are today.”
