As for the hundred–plus comments his friends mentioned, she only saw the five question marks Lucinda had left. They didn’t share any other mutual friends.

“Lucy, my signal was bad just now. Well… congratulations to your uncle for finally finding

someone.”

Lucinda didn’t notice anything strange in her tone. “It really is worth celebrating. A lot of people are already demanding to meet his girlfriend!”

Serena’s heart tightened again. “What did your uncle say?”

“He didn’t answer, of course. My uncle is way too cold to reply to that kind of thing. Oh—wait, he did reply.”

Serena’s grip on her phone went white–knuckled. “What did he say?”

Lucinda stared at the reply, her mouth twitching as she read aloud, “He said his girlfriend is shy and doesn’t want to meet us yet. Rena, do you think someone cast a spell on him? How did something that mushy come out of his mouth?”

In an instant, Serena’s ears burned hot.

Uneasy, she hung up and stared at the post again. Her thumb brushed the screen–accidentally hitting the “like” button. She jolted and immediately disliked it. Panic shot through her, and feeling as if the sky had caved in, she flung her phone onto the couch like a hot potato, not daring to look at it again.

Until it started ringing.

Serena hesitated, crept back toward the phone, and finally relaxed when she saw Eugene’s

name on the screen.

Across the city, Sebastian held his phone, having witnessed her like–and–unlike moment in real time. She finally saw it. But why did she remove the like? Is she upset?

Before he could think it through, his father called.

“Sebastian, you got a girlfriend?” Bryce asked cautiously.

In the entire Levine family, the only person Bryce didn’t dare nag was his youngest son. Not because he didn’t want to–but because he didn’t dare. The last time Bryce pushed him by sneaking a woman into his room, Sebastian packed up and left the country for five years.

Everyone else believed Sebastian had gone abroad to expand the family business. Only the Levines knew he’d gone to escape the endless matchmaking Bryce tried to force on him. The fight back then had been so intense that Bryce stopped pushing altogether.

So when Sebastian practically made an official announcement on social media, the family had been stunned.

“Yes, Dad. I have a girlfriend. Next month, we’ll register our marriage.”

Bryce gasped. “So soon?”

Sebastian answered evenly, “Soon? I’m already 33. It’s the perfect age to get married.”

A giant question mark silently formed in Bryce’s mind. Those were the very lines he used to pressure his son five years ago. Now, five years later, he somehow had come around just like that!

“Son, I don’t have many requirements for your wife,” Bryce spoke earnestly. “As long as she’s poised and decent, that’s enough. Her family background doesn’t matter–we don’t need political marriages. What’s important is that you like her.”
