Lily turned around the moment she saw Serena return. She quickly pulled her aside. “Serena, don’t panic yet. The boss had no idea this was happening. He just had a huge blowout with Chris Lopez, and then that woman showed up to yell at him too.”
Serena’s gaze hardened. “Where’s Mr. Rowe?”
Lily’s expression turned troubled. “Mr. Rowe’s on a business trip. He hasn’t answered a single call. Otherwise, the boss would’ve barged over to fight with him already.”
Just then, Poppy exited Eugene’s office. As she clicked her heels across the floor and spotted Serena, she let out a derisive snort, swayed her hips, and strutted off.
Eugene followed behind her, his expression grim. When he saw Serena, he parted his lips, looking completely guilty. “Serena, don’t worry–I’ll make this right.”
Serena had no patience left to stay at the firm. She headed home early. Halfway there, she noticed a message from Sebastian’s housekeeper, Charles Lorne. ‘Ms. Steele, the curtains were fully installed today. Would you like to come by and check?‘
Serena figured she might as well and agreed.
Sure enough, once the curtains were up, the entire room felt warmer. Combined with the things she had bought the day before, the space was already far more pleasant than on her first visit.
Charles smiled. “You have excellent taste, Ms. Steele. Mr. Levine stayed at the office last night. Would you like to send him a picture?”
Serena thought that since she used Sebastian’s card for all of this, she ought to give him an update.
Without realizing it, she had begun treating Sebastian like her supervisor. Everything she did felt like part of a job–one that paid her not with money, but with the leverage to go home and put certain people in their places.
Sebastian was in his office when he opened her messages–an image of the curtain and a text.
‘It’s done. Do you like it?’
His lips curved into a faint smile as he replied, ‘I like it.‘

A minute later, his friends discovered something shocking: Sebastian had actually posted on social media.
Curious, they tapped the little red dot on his profile–and their eyes widened with greater
shock.
‘My girlfriend really made this place feel like home.‘
And attached to the post was the very photo Serena sent him.
The post exploded instantly.
‘Girlfriend?‘ Julian questioned.
You drunk, Sebastian?‘ Elijah asked. ‘Daydreaming in broad daylight now?‘
‘Hell must’ve frozen over–our resident bachelor finally found someone. Congratulations to Mr. Levine!‘ Connor congratulated.
Serena never saw the post. She hadn’t checked social media in ages. Her mood had already been sour, and after sending the photo, she simply went home.
She had barely stepped through the door when her phone rang–Lucinda calling.
“Rena! I have earth–shattering gossip! You know my uncle–he’s so aloof and cold, I thought he was about to become a monk. But guess what happened!”
An uneasy feeling washed over Serena. “What happened?” she asked nervously.
Lucinda practically squealed, “My uncle posted on social media saying he has a girlfriend!”
