Yvonne would make sure today’s shame came back around. Not once. Not twice. A thousand times. She would return every bit of it.
That bitter old woman had stolen what was hers while she was still alive. And now, even in death, she had left behind this menace to humiliate her further.
If Yvonne swallowed this insult, she might as well take her own life.
Her eyes reddened faintly. Her voice came out soft and measured. “Very well, Donald. I will go in and apologize.”
She looked fragile, almost tragic. It tugged at Donald’s heart.
He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and gave her a comforting smile. “There, there. I know this has been hard on you. Yvonne, everything you have done, I remember.”
Serena lounged on the couch. She had already finished half her tea when Yvonne and Kyana walked in.
Donald tried to smooth things over. “Well, Rena, Yvonne is here.”
Serena placed her teacup on the table without a sound. Her gaze turned razor–sharp.
“There you are,” she said, casually pulling out her phone. She tapped on the camera and pointed it straight at Yvonne’s face. “Go ahead. I am listening.”
Kyana’s hands trembled. “Dad, look at her! What is she doing? Is she seriously going to film this?”
Serena tilted her head and answered without blinking. “Of course I am. You think tossing out some weak apology is enough? I want proof. A little memory for you both.”
Thes
They needed to remember this. They needed to remember that she was no longer someone they could silence, bend, or ignore.
They needed to stop and think next time they even considered crossing her.
She had played the sweet daughter for too long. If standing up for herself made her look difficult, then so be it.

Yvonne could taste metal on her tongue. Her lip had split from how hard she bit down.
Fine. She had clearly underestimated this girl.
Serena had smiled for twenty years. It had all been pretend.
Donald felt a flicker of irritation. He wanted to step in, but hesitated. What if Serena really had won Trevor back? He paused.
In business, sentiment meant little. Whether Yvonne got filmed or not made no real difference. It just hurt her pride.
“Yvonne, it’s alright. Just give her what she wants. You two were not exactly innocent, were you?”
Yvonne let out a cold laugh. So this was the man she married.
She swallowed the fury boiling inside her and forced a sour smile. “Fine. I’ll apologize.
“I used the wrong method. That part is on me. I should not have gotten involved in your love life. Rena, please forgive me just this once.”
Serena did not budge. “Wait. What method? Say it clearly.”
Yvonne’s face tightened. She took in a breath and spoke again. “I should not have slipped something into your drink. That was my fault. I should not have tried to force anything between you and my nephew. I chose the easy way, and it backfired. I admit that was on me. I will never do anything like that again. Is that good enough for you, Rena?”
Serena stopped recording. “Great. Make sure your nephew shows up next time.”
That was the end of today’s performance.
She looked over at a few of the housekeepers who always seemed to play against her. “You. You. And you. Pack your things. You are leaving. Yvonne, do not say I am being heartless. These three always followed your lead. They can leave with you.”
“Sir?” One of them asked, her face pale.
Were they actually being fired?
Some had worked in this house for five years. One of them had been here for over ten.
