Half an hour later, Serena had just finished her shower. She picked up her phone and, unusually, noticed Sebastian had posted a status.

She tapped on it, and the photo made her jump.

It was a scene of a car accident, paired with an ER image.

‘Got into a car accident. That was close.‘

Is it happening on the way back from my place? Serena hurriedly dialed his number.

The ringtone went all the way to the last second before it was answered softly.

“Hey, Sebastian. Did you get into a car accident? Are you okay? Where are you? At the hospital?”

Her rapid–fire questions made him feel all warm inside. It was like a soft feather brushing against his heart–ticklish and comforting

at the same time. He cleared his throat and said weakly, “I’m fine. Just a little scratch. Nothing serious.”

“Really okay?” Serena sounded genuinely worried. “Do you want me to come over?”

If the accident had happened on the way back after giving her a ride, she would feel a little guilty.

Sebastian couldn’t help the corner of his mouth from curling up. “I’m fine. Just a small injury. If it’s okay, I’d like some congee tomorrow. My housekeeper is off, and the doctor said I need something light.”

“Got it! I’ll bring it over tomorrow morning.”

He smirked with a bit of mischief. “No need to rush, let’s do it tomorrow night. Just bring it over in the evening.”

“Okay! Then I’ll leave work a bit early.”

After hanging up, Sebastian immediately called the housekeeper, Nerriah Lowe, at home. “Nerriah, if you don’t have anything going on tomorrow, take the day off. Yeah, a whole day. Why? No reason. But if you need one, just say I’m in a good mood.”

Trevor suddenly spotted Amber walking in, and he felt a bit awkward. After all, he had just planned to see Serena, so for some reason, guilt crept up on him.

Amber, seeing he seemed fine, couldn’t hold back and asked, “Trevor, were you going to Azurehill Road just now to see Serena? You said you were working late at the office!”

Trevor felt a bit annoyed at her questioning. “Amber, what’s with that voice? I was just passing by. Who said I went to see her?” He shot back, a little defensively. “Are you gonna act like her too, not trusting me?”

Amber bit her lip, her cheeks flushing red and pale in turns. “I didn’t…”

“Didn’t what? Then why were you asking like that?”

Her chest tightened at his words, and she felt a lump form in her throat. Tears shimmered in her eyes. Trevor, was just scared you were going to leave me.”

Trevor looked at her pitiful little expression, and his heart softened. He let out a small sigh. “Nonsense. Okay, don’t cry. Next month, we’ll have the wedding.”

The words were meant to soothe her, but also to remind him.

Amber felt genuinely comforted. “I was just scared. Trevor, I won’t overthink things anymore. Just love me a little more, okay?”

“Yeah,” Trevor answered, but his mind was elsewhere.
