Her mother had told her no, but she chose yes. Her mother advised her against marrying, yet she decided to do it anyway.
Serena’s lips parted slightly, her mind struggling to keep up with how quickly the events unfolded. “Lucinda…”
Lucinda forced a smile that was more strained than tears would be. “Rena, I’m fine. This isn’t impulsive. I’m getting married.”
Sophia left shortly after.
Julian acted quickly, promptly setting a date with Bryce and reaching out to his parents to arrange a formal proposal.
Bryce could only assume the mother and daughter had another major fallout.
He said, “Julian, my granddaughter tends to be a bit headstrong. You will need to be patient with her from now on.”
Julian’s lips curved into a smile. “No problem. She has a gentle nature. Don’t worry, Old Mr. Levine. I’ll take good care of her.”
Sebastian led Julian to the door, his brow creased. “You really mean this?”
Julian chuckled softly. “When have I ever treated something like this lightly?”
Sebastian lowered his gaze, pausing to think for a moment. “I hope this isn’t a sudden decision. If you ever mistreat my niece, our friendship will be over.”
The warning carried real weight.
In other words, if conflict ever arose, Sebastian would stand firmly on Lucinda’s side.
Julian tightens his lips slightly. “Relax. I won’t give you a reason to cut me off.”
He paused, then continued, “Please do me a favor and ask your niece to remove her husband from the block list.”

Serena pulled Lucinda back into the room and warned, “Lucinda, marriage isn’t a joke. Have you truly considered this?”
Lucinda gave a small, muffled nod. “I still don’t understand why Julian wants to marry me, but he isn’t a bad person. He has always looked out for me.
“Rena, I don’t like anyone anymore. Finding someone dependable and settling down… that’s not the worst outcome.”
Serena did not entirely agree, yet she knew there was little she could say.
Anyone could see Lucinda was acting out of spite–spite directed squarely at her mother.
Julian had clearly noticed as well.
Still, with Sebastian around, Julian would not dare mistreat her best friend openly.
Their usually quiet four–person group chat suddenly came alive.
Julian: @Connor @Elijah, get the wedding cash ready. I’m getting married.
Connor: What?
Elijah: Seriously?
Elijah: Wait. Julian, you don’t even have a girlfriend. Are you rushing into marriage or something?
Julian: @Sebastian, Uncle Sebastian, I’m being bullied. As your future nephew–in–law, please help me deal with them.
Connor and Elijah were completely stunned and no longer wanted to reply.
Julian smirked, recalling the bouquet from that wedding. Looks like it really worked.
Elijah soon dragged Connor out for drinks.
