Back at the hotel, she saw an unfamiliar number from Denton. If it was from Denton, it probably was Elijah.
She answered anyway, “Yeah?”
Elijah had not even spoken yet, and she had already put ice in her tone.
“Winona, let’s get back together. I miss you. Let’s get married, alright?”
Winona gave a brief, cold laugh. “Married? Considering my background and my so–called league? Do you really believe I am worthy of you, Mr. Payne?”
“Just be a good boy and stick to your family’s plan. Marry one of Denton’s high–society princesses. I’m filming, so I’ll hang up now.”
The line went dead.
Elijah looked at the disconnected call, feeling frustration grow in his chest. He quickly reached out to his assistant and shortly after received confirmation. He booked the earliest flight and started getting ready to leave.
Julian had no idea that news of his successful proposal had already made some people panic. If he had known, he would have certainly bragged twice as much in the group chat.
Lucinda looked at her phone, still a bit stunned. So… it’s actually decided? Just like that?
Silently, she removed him from her block list.
A single period appeared on his side after two seconds.
Lucinda: What now?
Julian had been testing the waters, sending a dot every few minutes to check if she had unblocked him. When one finally went through, a smug grin appeared on his face.

Julian: Feeling shy now? Fine. I’ll say it after we register. I’ve already told my parents. There’s a reservation at Midnight Society tomorrow. Should I pick you up?
Lucinda still couldn’t get used to her usual sparring partner unexpectedly becoming her fiance overnight.
Lucinda: No need. I’ll go with Grandpa.
Julian: Alright. See you tomorrow.
Lucinda locked her screen and did not reply again.
Trevor’s chest burned with suppressed anger after seeing Serena getting close to Sebastian the day before. He hadn’t slept at all, and by lunchtime, even his parents could see the dark shadows under his eyes.
“Trevor, don’t overwork yourself constantly. If you have free time, consider visiting Amber,” Deanna advised.
Their daughter–in–law had been overseas for nearly a month. Deanna felt it would not look right to keep ignoring her.
Trevor gave a slight nod. “Okay, Mom.”
His eyes, however, turned towards the other two at the table. One was busy eating, while the other concentrated on deboning fish. They were both indifferent to the conversation as if he were completely insignificant.
Trevor’s eyes dimmed slightly. “Alright, Mom. I’ll go the day after tomorrow.”
Deanna’s face lit up right away.
For her, it was enough if her son could simply live happily with Amber. There was no need for everything to become a rivalry with his uncle. Even if he attempted, it would be useless–he wouldn’t come out on top.
Bryce overheard and nodded in approval. “Good. Go see her.”
Sebastian wiped his hands. “Dad, Nathan, Deanna, enjoy your meal. We’re leaving”
“Yeah, yeah, go on. If you’re busy, don’t mind me. Bryce snorted, showing his clear
