Chapter 385 A Night at the Hospital
“Let’s go.”
Trevor’s face had turned gloomy.
He didn’t want to look at the child for even one more second.

He hadn’t invested much emotion in the baby to begin with, but the moment he thought about the child- and about Amber–his stomach churned with disgust.
Trevor always acted on impulse, so he did exactly what he felt like doing. He squatted outside the police station entrance and threw up for a long time.
Deanna’s face burned with anger, especially after what had just happened–grabbing Serena and accusing her, insisting with absolute certainty that her daughter could never do such a thing.
Now the memory made her cheeks sting as if someone had slapped her.
Nathan let out a long sigh.
What kind of mess was this?
He had lived his entire life without encountering anything this bizarre.
What a nightmare.
Regret gnawed at him. If he had been more forceful back then and insisted his son marry Serena, none of this chaos would have happened.
Serena had just lain down when Sebastian’s phone rang sharply beside her.
She pushed herself up on one elbow and looked at him. “What’s wrong?”
Sebastian’s expression grew serious. He nodded into the phone.
“Okay. I’ll be there right away.”
Serena immediately sat up. “What happened?”
Sebastian took a deep breath. “Dad’s been admitted to the hospital. I’m heading over now.”
“What?” She jumped out of bed. “Wait for me–I’ll change clothes. Five minutes. I’m going with you!”
“You stay home tonight,” Sebastian replied. “Come tomorrow,”
Serena insisted, though.
“No. He’s always been so good to me. I have to go.”

Sebastian didn’t argue anymore, but when Serena saw him holding the steering wheel, his hands were shaking slightly.
“Honey, let me drive”
“It’s fine.”
Serena placed her hand over his tightly clenched one on the wheel. “Honey, let me drive. I have a license. You’re not in the best state right now, and it’s nighttime.”
Sebastian hesitated, then nodded. “Okay.”
Serena knew the truth.
On the surface, Sebastian loved arguing with the old man. They bickered constantly.
However, deep down, he cared about his father a great deal.
If Deanna hadn’t come today just to provoke him–if Amber hadn’t stirred up this ridiculous scandal–he might have handled everything in a much gentler way, not for Trevor’s reputation.
It was because he feared his father wouldn’t be able to take the shock.
Sebastian’s expression darkened.
He wanted nothing more than to tear Amber apart.
That poisonous adopted daughter–whose idea had it been to bring her into this family in the first place?
The two of them hurried to the cardiovascular ward.
“Doctor, how’s my dad?” Sebastian asked urgently.
The department head reassured him.
“It’s nothing serious. At his age, it’s common to have some cardiovascular issues. We’ll run a full examination tomorrow to see if there’s reduced blood flow to the brain. After that, we’ll give him some medication to dilate the blood vessels and see if it helps relieve the dizziness and oxygen deficiency.”
Serena crouched beside the hospital bed.
“Dad, it’s me–Rena. Are you feeling any better?”
Bryce lay there with an oxygen tube in his nose. His eyelids felt unbearably heavy, and he only wanted to sleep.
“I’m fine, Rena. You were wronged today.”
“It’s okay. Serena’s nose tingled with emotion.
