“What did you just say, Serena?” Lily asked, turning toward her.
Serena shook her head. “Nothing.”

At noon, everyone gathered for a self–serve BBQ.
A group of capable volunteers eagerly took charge of the grill, flipping skewers and tending the fire.
People like Serena, on the other hand, sat off to the side and relaxed.
It wasn’t that she was deliberately slacking off. There were simply too many people crowding around the grill already. If she joined them, it would just get even more cramped.
Lily soon returned with a batch of freshly grilled food and began handing it out.
“Rena, you love fish. Here–this fish tail is for you.”
Serena accepted it with a bright smile. “Thanks.”
She picked up the skewer. The smell was perfectly normal–cumin and chili, the same mouthwatering aroma everyone else was enjoying.
But the moment it reached her nose, Serena’s stomach lurched.
A wave of nausea rolled through her so suddenly she couldn’t suppress it. She quickly shoved the skewer back into Lily’s hands, covered her mouth, and rushed toward the restroom.
“Ugh-
Serena leaned over the sink and dry–heaved for five full minutes. Her eyes reddened, and her stomach cramped again and again, leaving her miserable.
A few minutes later, Lily hurried in.
“What’s going on? Serena, don’t scare me like this! Is your gastritis acting up again?”
Serena’s face was flushed bright red. Tears clung to her lashes.
“I’m fine. Maybe my stomach’s just a little upset.”
But the moment she finished speaking, another bout of retching overtook her.
Seeing that something was clearly wrong, Lily patted her shoulder anxiously.
“Hang in there. I’ll go
some stomach medicine!”

Meanwhile, Sebastian had been wandering around the campsite aimlessly. After scanning the crowd several times, he realized he couldn’t find his wife anywhere.
Then Lily came running over in a panic.
“Who brought stomach medicine? Quick, Elias–bring your medical kit! I need stomach pills! Serena’s in the women’s restroom throwing up nonstop. Her gastritis must be flaring up again!”
The moment the words left her mouth, Sebastian’s face changed dramatically.
He didn’t care that it was the women’s restroom.
He rushed straight in.
Serena had just started to recover and splashed some water on her face.
“Honey, what’s wrong? Is your stomach hurting?”
She had only just calmed down and still didn’t have the strength to answer him.
Seeing her pale and exhausted, Sebastian panicked, assuming something was seriously wrong. Without another word, he scooped her up in his arms.
“I’m taking you down the mountain to see a doctor!”
Lily arrived a moment later, clutching the stomach medicine she’d just grabbed.
When she saw the woman in Sebastian’s arms–and realized it was her dear coworker–her mouth fell
open so wide it could’ve fit an egg.
She slapped her own cheeks.
“Am I dreaming? Did I just see Mr. Levine carrying Serena and running off?”
Shawn, standing beside her, pinched himself.
“Nope. Not a dream. I saw it too. I even pinched myself–it hurt.”
The two exchanged stunned looks.
Since when did Serena have that kind of relationship with the mighty CEO of Levine Group?
It
4 st Lily who saw it.
Quite a few Levine Group employees witnessed the scene as well.
A wave of gossip swept through the group, and the people gathered around the BBQ instantly became
restless.
