“What?” Yvonne and Kyana practically shrieked in unison.

“Dad, did Serena put a spell on you? Are you crazy?” Kyana stared in disbelief.

Kyana’s complete lack of restraint finally pushed Donald over the edge. His expression went cold. “Kyana, is that how you talk to your father? Kyana stood frozen after the scolding, feeling utterly wronged. Tears welled in her eyes. “Mom, how could Dad do this? Why is he taking that b*tch’s side?”

“Enough!” Yvonne’s expression wasn’t good either. She was overwhelmed herself and had little energy left to soothe her daughter. “Kyana, stop calling her that. Do you want to hand people more dirt on us?”

After leaving her father, Serena headed to the law firm. She was busy until the afternoon before she noticed that Sebastian had called her. She stepped into the pantry to return the call.

Inside the meeting room, the man–cold as frost a moment ago–thawed instantly when he saw her name on the screen. “Pause for a minute. I need to take a call.”

Serena felt her cars heat up. Girlfriend? When did that happen? At best, they were… pretend spouses.
