Yvonne had the housekeeper pack her things and told her daughter to gather the clothes and items she used most often.
Halfway through packing, Kyana flew into a rage.
“Amber, are you free?”
Amber smiled lightly. “I am. Kyana, it’s been a while. Want to grab a meal together?”
Kyana was already planning on it.
At a fancy restaurant, Amber bit her lip, hardly able to believe what she was hearing. “You’re saying your dad agreed to Serena’s request and kicked you and your mom out of the house?”
“Exactly! Amber, tell me–what kind of spell did that woman cast on my dad for him to treat us like this?” Kyana fumed.
Amber fell silent, thinking it through.
She understood Donald well enough. He was a meticulous egoist and a shrewd businessman. As a father, he acted with conditions; as a businessman, even more so.
After Serena broke off the engagement with Trevor, she should have been a useless pawn in his eyes. If he valued her again now, there could only be one reason–Serena had regained strategic value.
“Kyana, did your sister start dating someone new? Or maybe someone wealthy?”
Kyana frowned with disdain. “Her? She already broke things off with Trevor. Who else would be dumb enough to take her in?”
Something about that made Amber’s expression flicker. She knew Trevor wouldn’t do anything for Serena. She was confident in her position in his life,
But Amber didn’t mind smearing the woman she hated. “Well, you know, some older men really like her type.”
And just like that, Kyana’s eyes lit up in sudden understanding. So that’s why Dad suddenly took her side. She hooked an old guy!

“Kyana, don’t worry,” Amber said gently. “I heard your sister’s law firm recently took on Credence Electronics‘ investment and acquisition project. I’m close with the senior associate handling that case. Want me to set up a lunch sometime?”
Kyana’s eyes gleamed with purpose. “Yes! Amber, you’re the best. Set it up for tomorrow–I’ll
treat!”
Serena thinks she’s untouchable? Fine. Let’s ruin her big case for her.
After work, Serena swung by a mall to shop for home furnishings. She wanted to change the curtains in Sebastian’s villa.
Sebastian had a business dinner that night. On the way there, he received her message.
‘Do you think these sheer curtains look good with the cream–latte color?‘
His home was decorated entirely in dark tones–mostly deep gray or straight black. He figured girls her age wouldn’t like something so gloomy. So the moment her text came in, he replied without hesitation. ‘They’re beautiful. All things related to interior decor will be the lady of the house’s call.‘
A soft blush rose across Serena’s pale cheeks.
‘Okay, I’ll make the executive decisions then.‘
She bought quite a lot–curtains, rugs, couch pads, table mats, and new bedding for the bedroom. She quickly arranged for installers to come by the next day.
‘Sebastian, the installers will come tomorrow. Here’s the number. If you don’t mind, could you let the house staff know?‘
His reply came almost immediately–a string of digits, the front–door code, and a phone number.
‘Contact my housekeeper directly. From now on, anything big or small–you can have him take care of it.
