Leslie’s POV
"Ha, as if I’m that bored," I scoffed. "Do you have any idea how many major decisions are waiting for my approval back at the Pack?"
Kelly, seemingly afraid we were about to start bickering, said softly, "Actually, we were planning to wait a bit longer before telling our friends. Since it hasn't been that long, we thought if things were to change..."
She was being thorough and cautious, which I completely understood. But Carris cut her off.
"I wanted to tell the whole world on day one! Don't worry so much—we’re definitely going to go the distance!"
I noticed that when he spoke, his expression held a gravity and sincerity that was miles away from his usual playboy persona. In that moment, I believed him. He was truly serious.
Looking at their tightly interlaced hands, I felt a wave of emotion. I was happy for Kelly, but there was also a tiny, inexplicable pang of bitterness...
Adler, perfectly timed, handed me a glass of lemon juice.
I: "..."
He did that on purpose, didn't he?
He seemed to read my mind and chuckled. "I added honey."
It wasn't sour.
I took it but didn't drink. I turned to the couple and asked curiously, "So, when exactly did this start?"
Carris looked at Kelly, seeking her permission. "Can I say?"
Kelly gave him a mock-reproachful look before her lips curled into a smile and she nodded.
"I started pursuing her the very first day I arrived..."
My jaw nearly hit the floor. This trip was just one surprise after another!
"Of course," Carris added with an embarrassed laugh, "she ignored me. She even called the police and reported me for harassment..."
Adler and I exchanged a look, both of us seeing the amusement in each other’s eyes. It was a minor miracle they had ended up together after a start like that.
Kelly seemed dissatisfied with his brief summary and took over the storytelling herself. I noticed that when she talked about Carris, her usually calm eyes sparkled with a light I’d never seen before.
"He’s wonderful. He personally prepares my breakfast and dinner every single day. When Leiss comes looking for trouble, he’s the first one to step up. He always considers my feelings... Before the show even finished filming, I knew I couldn't think straight anymore. My head was full of him. So, we decided to be together!"
It sounded a bit reckless, like a decision made in the heat of the moment. But seeing the unshielded happiness and certainty on her face, I knew she had truly found her own spark.
The moment they looked at each other, I knew Leiss was completely out of the picture. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't compete with the electric, deep-seated love visible in that single glance.
I looked down and smiled, then reached out to applaud them.
"Wow. That’s beautiful. I hope you two stay this happy forever."
Watching them hold hands, I felt like my eyes were going to be blinded if I stayed a "lone wolf" in their presence any longer. I smiled and made an excuse to leave early with Adler.
