Burn in the Alpha Princess's Wrath (Leslie and Kirby) novel Chapter 470

Kirby’s POV

The sun dipped below the horizon, and night began to settle over the city.

Outside my office window, the city lights flickered to life one by one, looking like a brilliant galaxy stretching across the earth. I sat behind my desk, unable to focus on the documents in front of me. Instead, I found myself mechanically refreshing my phone.

I had only one goal: to see if she had posted anything new.

Suddenly, a video posted by Ryan caught my eye. The thumbnail showed Leiss and... her. The caption was mocking: "Beta Leiss' most pathetic moment!"

I went to click on it, but the video was deleted instantly.

I frowned and dialed Ryan’s number immediately. He sounded startled by the sudden call, his voice trembling as he sent me the video file. He made sure to add a frantic disclaimer: "Leiss has been going crazy trying to find the source of this video. For the love of god, don't tell him I gave it to you..."

I ignored his cowardice and opened the video.

It was a clip less than ten seconds long, but I watched it twice. One person was bowing in apology; the other was accepting it with a smile. Leiss' humble posture didn't seem out of place—I knew that in her presence, anyone would become humble.

But with no context, I couldn't tell what had actually happened.

"How did Leiss offend her?" I asked Ryan.

"I don't know! I just reposted it from someone else’s feed, and the original is already gone!"

I hung up and dialed Leiss directly. The moment he picked up, I got straight to the point. "Did you offend Leslie?"

A stifled groan came from the other end of the line. I could practically feel his desire to drop dead in that moment. "Even you know already."

"What happened?"

I knew he’d talk. He didn't have a choice. If he didn't tell me, there were a thousand other people who would be more than happy to fill me in. If that happened, he’d only end up losing even more face.

Sure enough, he began to stammer through an explanation. "It was at their wrap party... I saw Kelly and Carris together and I lost my head. I accidentally let it slip that Carris used to have a crush on Leslie..."

I was silent for a long time.

I could sense Leiss' anxiety through the phone; he was likely terrified I’d settle the score with him right then and there.

"Kirby, Alpha..." he pleaded, his voice cracking. "Please, don't torture me! I’ve been mocked all day because of that video!"

I could feel the chill of my words reaching Leiss. He went dead silent. After a moment, he began to sniffle into the phone. "Kirby, my apology was as sincere as it gets. Leslie even forgave me herself! Can we just move on? My mate was stolen by your cousin and now I’ve lost all my dignity. I’ve suffered enough, okay? Sob..."
