Burn in the Alpha Princess's Wrath (Leslie and Kirby) novel Chapter 467

Leslie’s POV

I could feel Leiss' anger; his Beta pheromones were practically boiling, turning sharp enough to pierce the air.

He stood there frozen, his face cycling through shades of red and white. He looked exactly like someone who had been force-fed a mouthful of filth. Seeing him get played so thoroughly by Carris’s manipulative, "damsel-in-distress" performance, I almost felt a twinge of pity for him.

The poor guy was truly pathetic.

I picked up my soda water and took a sip to steady my nerves.

Kelly’s eyes were brimming with tears, looking as though she was moved to the point of breaking. She and Carris shared a long, soulful look—a scene that drew envious glances from the surrounding crowd.

Meanwhile, as the "villain" of this little drama, Leiss was shaking with rage. His fists were clenched so tight the veins on the back of his hands stood out in stark relief.

Just when I thought he was finally going to snap and throw a punch, he abruptly reached out. But he didn't point at Carris; he pointed a finger directly at me.

"Do you have any idea?" he roared at Kelly. "That pretty boy was originally after Leslie! He only gave up because he didn't dare offend Kirby! He has a fetish for mature, experienced women, and that’s the only reason he’s targeted you! Ha, do you really think his feelings for you are real?"

Pfft—

I nearly sprayed my soda water across the room.

I snapped my head up, fixing Leiss with a freezing stare. That tiny spark of pity I’d felt a moment ago vanished without a trace. He deserved this. I hoped his pursuit of his ex-wife ended in a total disaster—one where even the ashes were scattered to the wind.

"Nonsense!"

Carris and I shouted in unison.

The color drained from his face, and a flicker of familiar panic crossed his eyes. He turned his head sharply to meet my gaze, and I made no effort to hide the coldness in my expression.

He finally seemed to realize that in his desperate attempt to attack Carris, his reckless words had dragged a Rogue Pack Alpha into the mud.

I saw his Adam’s apple bob as he swallowed hard, his body giving an almost imperceptible shudder. He knew perfectly well that I still held all the leverage over his dirty little secrets. More importantly, he knew I was Leslie—the future Queen of the Rogue Pack—not someone he could slander on a whim.

Just as I expected him to double down like an cornered wolf, he forced out a smile that looked more painful than crying and hurried over to me.

To the astonishment of everyone watching, he bowed slightly. For a Crimson Moon Beta, the gesture was nothing short of groveling.

"I spoke out of turn. I'm sorry, Leslie. I acted on impulse, please forgive me!" His voice was stiff, and his smile was brittle with caution.
