Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 285

Caspian took a slow sip of his tea. "Edmund, you've been chewing my ear off all night. What exactly are you trying to say?"

Edmund cleared his throat lightly. "Choosing an in-law means choosing the right people. Take the Blackthorne family, for instance. We never nickel-and-dime over petty profits. Once we're family, we function as one cohesive unit."

The message was finally crystal clear.

Caspian shot Edmund a look of total comprehension, mulled it over for a second, and sank back into his seat. "Spit it out. Which of my grandsons have you got your eye on?"

Edmund immediately picked up his teacup to hide his calculating expression. "Hey, can't we just have a casual chat?"

Caspian frowned. "So it's not the boys? Don't tell me you're eyeing my precious granddaughters? Absolutely not!"

"Pfft!" Edmund nearly choked, violently sputtering his tea. "I haven't even said who yet! Why is it an instant 'no'?!"

Caspian didn't hold back. "The only unengaged boy you have left is a walking meatball. My granddaughters aren't settling for some subpar reject. Every single one of them is off-limits!"

"You—Caspian!" Edmund nearly suffered a stroke from the sheer insult. Seeing Caspian preparing to walk away, he slammed his hand flat against the table. "It's not your granddaughters. It's one of your brats."

Caspian's gaze instantly turned suspicious. "Which one?"

Edmund cast a deliberate look toward the crowded hall.

Caspian's eyes tracked the movement, a flicker of surprise crossing his face. "You're after Cyril?"

Edmund nodded firmly. "I'll be brutally honest with you. Alaric is far too untouchable. I refuse to let Mina suffer the indignity of scrambling for his attention, and I have absolutely zero interest in entertaining that idea. But Cyril is different. I genuinely like the boy."

Caspian's gaze grew heavy, and he stared at Edmund in absolute silence.

Edmund didn't bother sugarcoating it; he laid his cards directly on the table. "Don't look at me like that. I'm deadly serious about this. You know as well as I do that with Cyril's background, the vast majority of our circle will never accept him. He's never going to find a better safety net than the Blackthorne family. Besides, considering Mina's pedigree, your boy is the one punching above his weight class here."

Caspian considered it for a moment, making the conscious choice not to outright reject him. "The kids are still young. There's no rush. Let them spend some more time together. If you're still set on this later down the line, we can sit down and hash out the details. The matriarch is waiting for me, so I need to step away."
