Aurelia’s face instantly drained of all color, turning as white as a sheet.
Cyril offered a brief, silent nod and walked past the group without a word.
Julian narrowed his eyes, tracking Cyril's retreating figure. If it hadn't been for Cyril, Alaric probably would have swept the whole scandal under the rug for the sake of the 'bigger picture'. Cyril almost never openly opposed Alaric. Why did he step in tonight?
Was he just that certain their grandfather would intervene? Or did he see right through the core of the entire situation from the start?

Inside the Tea Room.
"Come with me, Vivienne," Caspian said, standing up and leading her behind a decorative screen.
Vivienne glanced at the teacups on the table and casually took the seat Julian had vacated.
"Grandpa, did you want to tell me something?"
Caspian nodded. He had plenty to say, but looking into her bright, expressive eyes, he suddenly didn't know where to start.
Vivienne tilted her head, confused. "What's wrong, Grandpa?"
After a long silence, Caspian tossed his mental script aside and asked earnestly, "Vivienne, do you want to be my granddaughter?"
She blinked in surprise before nodding vigorously. "Why would you ask that? Of course I do."
A flicker of guilt crossed Caspian's eyes. "Then do you know why I haven't officially added your name to the Ravenshire Family Registry yet?"
Vivienne paused. She had actually figured this out in her previous life, though by then, she never got the chance to confirm it with him.
