Though Bianca didn't understand why Vivienne stopped her, she obediently sat back down.
Vivienne calmly poured her a glass of water. "Don't worry. Lara won't do anything drastic in public. If Aurelia doesn't want to be treated like a maid, she can just refuse. There are cameras everywhere. If you force yourself into it and they spin the story, you won't get any credit and you'll just drag yourself into the mess."
Bianca understood, though her eyes still held a hint of hesitation.
Vivienne set down her fork. "You can't save someone who willingly sinks."
Cyril glanced at her fork, pushed his plate an inch forward, and silently grabbed a napkin to clean his mouth.
Meanwhile, Lara did exactly as Vivienne predicted. After handing her things to Aurelia, she got to work. Her occasional requests for water were minor annoyances, and Aurelia didn't show any signs of resistance.
Since one was willing to dish it out and the other willing to take it, anyone else stepping in would just be a busybody.
Frustrated by the sight, Bianca threw down her silverware. "Let's go. We're going to the infirmary. I can't stay here another minute."
Just as the three of them stood up, Isolde and a group of students from the Virtue Academy walked in through the main doors.
Vivienne's expression shifted slightly, and she discreetly sat back down.
Cyril remained silent.
When the assistant director saw them, he immediately waved them over. "Perfect timing. You remember what we talked about this morning, right? Get your heads in the game. Let's try to get this in one take."
Isolde and the other girls smiled awkwardly. Initially, the crew had promised them a few simple shots and decent pay, which was why they agreed.
"Yeah! You said it was just a few simple shots, but... this morning, one of our classmates was slapped dozens of times before they called cut..."
The assistant director's eyelid twitched, and he interrupted them again. "This is a television drama, it has to look real! That was just for the plot. Besides, didn't the production give that student a bonus envelope to compensate? Are you trying to cause trouble right now?"
Isolde replied, "We're not causing trouble. We're just here to tell you we quit."
Lara crossed her arms and sauntered over, looking Isolde up and down. "You again? What's the matter? Trying to pick a fight because of your friend?"
Isolde kept her head down. "No. We really can't act. We don't know how to bully people."
"Tch!" Lara scoffed. "Who are you trying to mock?"
