Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 438

The autumn breeze drifted through the window frames, and the aroma of rich tea wafted through the Tea Room.

Staring at the deadlocked chessboard in front of him, Caspian fell into deep thought.

The black pieces were aggressive, relentlessly threatening a checkmate. The white pieces had lost the initiative and could only react to each move, but mere defense wouldn't break the double-attack trap. After much hesitation, Caspian moved his white rook forward to draw enemy fire, covering a pawn's advance across the board. The rook fell, the knight was lost, but the pawn line advanced. Yet, before making the next move, he hesitated.

At that moment, Cedric pushed the door open and walked up to Caspian, holding the teacup.

"Did she drink it?"

Cedric nodded. "Yes. Every last drop."

Caspian looked back at the chessboard, suddenly losing all interest in the game.

His children weren't chess pieces, after all.

"Call Jasper in."

Cedric nodded and left. A moment later, Jasper walked in.

"Sir."

Caspian glanced at the empty teacup on the table. "Notify the team in Marindor. If Evelyn enters the country with Lara, cancel the previous arrangements. Dr. Cole won't need to follow them either."

No one realized it, but Caspian had received the news the moment Benedict mobilized the Shadow Chamber. Without his silent approval, the Chamber operatives could never have surrounded the Yucai Academy.

He had been Aurelia's unseen guardian all along.

Even in the Conservatory, he had allowed the second and third branches to argue, because people only revealed their true nature when their interests collided.

When family conflicts escalated to such a degree, the actual truth was often irrelevant. To Caspian, Evelyn's sheer stupidity was the ultimate sin.

She couldn't read the room. To secure a marriage with the Everhart family, she actually framed her own niece. If she had the competence to snatch that level of power, Caspian would have respected her ambition. But Evelyn was ambitious without the brains to back it up. Her schemes were full of holes. If a child could easily outmaneuver her, the vicious predators in the corporate world would tear her to shreds.
