Before he could finish, Kael was sent flying across the floor once again.
Julian's eyes narrowed dangerously. "You'll mess with whoever you want? Looks like we really do need to teach you a lesson."
"Julian!" Leander was losing his mind.
Just a moment ago, Cyril had asked him why Julian was suddenly attacking Kael, and Leander had casually mentioned the proposal.
He had only brought it up to prove that Kael didn't actually hold a grudge against Vivienne! He never expected that one sentence from Cyril would make Alaric completely drop his interference.
Leander had no idea what was going on, but terrified of things escalating further, he rushed forward to drag Julian back.
Seeing that Julian wasn't listening, Leander turned to Cyril for help. "Cyril, come help me!"
"Sure." Cyril grabbed Leander by the wrist, effectively pulling him out of the way. This gave Julian the perfect opening to swing his fists with even more freedom.
Leander stared at his trapped wrist. "Who told you to grab me?!"
"Uncle Leander, I think it's best if you find a place to hide for now," Cyril said calmly. "Julian is absolutely furious. If he accidentally hits you, that would be an actual family scandal."
Leander remained speechless.
"He's right." Alaric turned around and threw a calm glance at Wesley Crain.
Catching the signal, Wesley immediately gestured to his men. The bodyguards stationed in the stairwell instantly moved forward, forming an impenetrable human wall that completely blocked out the mob of reporters.
Three hours later.
Josslyn stood with his arms crossed, a very complicated expression on his face.
"So... what you're saying is, all you did was call Julian a bastard, and they beat you half to death right in front of the reporters? Isn't that a bit of an overreaction?"
"Fuck! What do you mean 'overreaction'?! Are these injuries fake?! The Ravenshires have completely lost their minds! Everyone blows smoke up their asses about being the 'twin stars', and now they think they own the world?! Just wait! I'm going to make them pay for this!"
Kael lay on the hospital bed, glaring furiously. One leg was still in a cast, and the other was elevated in a sling. He looked absolutely miserable.
