After dinner.
Vivienne sat in the yard of Vellmont Lodge, holding Little Stray as she watched the stars.
The bamboo chair on the ground swayed back and forth, and the stars in the sky twinkled.
She gazed up, mesmerized, muttering to herself, "Millions of dollars... I wonder if wishing on a shooting star actually works?"
"What's wrong? Your face is scrunched up tighter than a lemon."
Talia strode into the courtyard of Vellmont Lodge like a ruling queen, a diamond-studded purse in her left hand and Bianca practically being dragged along by her right.
"Mom?" Vivienne immediately sat up straight, her gaze sweeping past Talia to look at Bianca.
Bianca made a slicing motion across her throat, then pointed toward the direction of Wolfram Manor.
Vivienne understood instantly and immediately stood up.
Pretending not to notice their secret exchange, Talia walked past Vivienne and gently patted her shoulder. "Don't be nervous. It's not a big deal."
Vivienne's mouth twitched. She was practically allergic to that phrase right now.
Talia walked past her into the front hall, her tone giving nothing away. "Stop staring and come inside, both of you."
Vivienne and Bianca exchanged a look and silently followed her in.
Talia sat with her legs crossed, her perfectly manicured hands resting delicately on her knees. She leaned back slightly, her tailored outfit accentuating her stunning curves.
"Sit."
Once the two girls sat down, Talia's gaze landed on Vivienne. "Alaric told me everything."
"..."
Vivienne closed her eyes. Just as she was about to explain, Talia reached up and touched her own hair. "Relax~ I said it's not a big deal. People need a little entertainment in life to keep things interesting. It's perfectly normal."
