Damien Whitmore's expression turned glacial as he hurled his lit cigar straight at Stellan Shaw's face.
"You've got a lot of nerve. You almost killed my daughter," he snarled.
The glowing embers struck Stellan's cheek, searing a blister into his flesh, but the young man didn't flinch. He merely offered a flat explanation. "Boss, the target was Aurelia Ravenshire. Someone interfered, and Miss Whitmore threw herself in front of them to protect them. It was a complete accident."
Damien glared at the young man like he was a rabid dog. "The snipers have already been dealt with. You're the only loose end left with a mouth."
The sudden appearance of the Ravenshire family's Shadow Chamber that night had ruined all their plans. When Damien found out Bianca was the one who took the bullet, he had executed the snipers in a blind rage.
Stellan lowered his head. "I'm sorry, Boss. I will accept whatever punishment you deem fit."
Damien shot a look at his enforcers. "Throw him into the Shock Room."
The men hauled Stellan up by his dislocated arms and dragged him out of the room.
Once they were gone, Damien pointed to the chair opposite him. "Did you handle the Blackthorne situation?"
Rizzo had completely dropped the tough-guy act he used with Rowena, nodding meekly. "That Blackthorne girl is young. As long as Rowena follows our instructions, the kid will definitely fall in line and work for us out of fear. The Blackthorne family will never see it coming—their precious, spoiled daughter turning into our inside mole."
Finally, some good news. Damien's expression softened slightly. "And what about the true Blackthorne daughter? Has her club membership not been finalized yet?"
Rizzo immediately replied, "Don't worry, Boss. We already have a plan in motion. It's only a matter of a month or so. That girl won't escape my grasp."
Damien nodded in satisfaction.
The syndicate's dealings were incredibly complex. It wasn't that they hadn't tried to form an alliance with the Blackthornes before, but Edmund Blackthorne had been dodging the issue for ages, playing games. Damien wanted to see how the old man would keep his hands clean once his precious granddaughter was dragged through the mud.
